Sorry, I'm super new to the concept of modding cars. I'm picking up this truck soon and really dislike this part being blue, I want it to be black. I'm gonna be covering the fender flares in a black paint that is made for lining truck beds on reccomendation of someone on here. Can I do that to this as well?

I believe that part is called the front bumper fascia.

You could mask it off and paint or schmear the bed liner on.........

    Dumb question.
But, why didn't you just buy the TRD Off Road that comes with that and the fender flares in Black?

    Edit: Skewp?

You say this like finding one in voodoo blue, my required color, is that easy. Man I have been searching for months. I'm literally flying to another state just so I can drive back with this.

Understood. Since the OR come with those on Black you might be able to order a Black one and swap it out. Can't be that expensive.
    Possibly the fender flares too.

Or just put a foil wrap on. Should be affordable and you can just remove it when you are going to sell the truck

Yup. I'm sure you could find someone who just has it laying around in their garage. I would check out your state/regional specific forum on here to find someone close by

As someone else mentioned I would try Plastidip. At least if you dont end up liking it you can remove it fairly easily. Check out https://www.dipyourcar.com/

Drive it for a couple of months and see if you still want to change the trim pieces to black.
Another suggestion: put a set of TRD PRO wheels on it (or similar), and tint the windows. May provide enough black contrast for you.
Maybe even black out the emblems. Toyota sells a kit.

It is called the front bumper valance. If you buy one on ebay, make sure it is painted. The unpainted ones look black at first but will very quickly fade to gray.

I'm not sure what part of the country you're in, but I have a black one in my garage that you can have if you're local to me (Southern California). As others have said, this part is often removed when people install smaller "insert" style front bumpers, like the Body Armor Hiline series. I would stay away from plasti dip or paint. Those options will look really good when you first do them, but they'll fade pretty bad over just a year or so, and they'll get extremely chipped or pitted up, since that part of the vehicle takes impacts from bugs and small pebbles while driving on the highway.

If you're not local to me, check your regional specific forum, and see if anyone has one lying around. You can also post up in the Hiline bumper thread, to see if anyone is willing to part with theirs. It's no use to the original owner anymore once the front bumper has been cut: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/body-armor-hiline-series-bumper.625719/

Any chance I could swoop on your black bumper valance if OP isn't local? :anonymous:

Absolutely. If the OP responds and that they're not local, then you can have it. As I said, it's no use to me, because my front bumper had to be cut in order to mount the Hiline bumper. So I couldn't put this valance back on and go back to stock even if I wanted to (unless I buy a new bumper).
