What up group I got a 2014 Tacoma, four with some stuff done to her, anyways I have just recently started noticing off and on vibration with a little thud noise pretty much under my seat while driving, leaning toward bad carrier bearing…thoughts? And suggestions of brand of replacement for that bearing?

thanks for any words of wisdom

That's exactly what is wrong with your truck.

If you go OEM like suggested above, that should work, there are also aftermarket solutions which require a little bit more work but the payoff is huge. I'm actually still running the aftermarket one I installed on the truck back in 2015 to this day without a hiccup.

I can track down the link to the thread I made back in the day, otherwise, you have a solution with the post above.

    All stock, baby!
What thoughts do you have regarding use of the Inland Empire bearing on a stock (not lifted) Taco? Looks like the driveshaft will be about 2" lower than stock at the CB mount point with use of this alternative. I took a cursory look at mine and the driveshaft is in pretty much a straight line with the stock bearing, as would be expected.

I posted this somewhere else, maybe the first link above, but my OE carrier bearing lasted ~110k miles. My truck is stock except for the front is lifted 1" via Bilstein 5100s. I replaced the carrier bearing with the Spicer part (same as OE) and filled it with silicone- pic in the first link above. I has 30k+ miles on it and no issues. I did this on a previous vehicle and it lasted 100k+ miles, until I sold the car. It still has some give to it, but is much stiffer than stock. When I initially installed it I noticed a very slight vibration at a certain speed (this is why the OE one is so floppy, even when new), but it's either gone away, or my butt has gotten used to it.
