    Plenty coming..
.. I have a quick and seemingly dumb question that I haven't been able to answer by looking at previous threads and from reading online..

If you have it installed in the front only - does it still make the ratchet sound when you're in 2WD? It's a simple question and from what I read online it will no make a sound if you have "manual" locking hubs in the front - I just can't figure out if that's the old school "get out and twist" type manual or as in "not all wheel drive" manual/selectable.

Thanks in advance and sorry if new thread wasn't really needed.

There isn’t anything manual about the hubs in these years truck. The hubs are locked to the axle at all times. I don’t know if it will make a noise. Maybe @EatSleepTacos can help.

That’s a good question that I’m not positive on. With the ADD system up front, the ring and pinion aren’t spinning during 2hi, only the spider gears. Since those get replaced with a lunchbox, maybe it ratchets? Real helpful answer, I know lol

I figured you might know. IIRC, you ran a LBL in the rear? You’re the only one around here I know of that had messed with them.

    Thanks for trying though:thumbsup:

I did have one in the rear, it was great for what it is. I don’t think I’d ever put one in the front though.

With the axle disconnect the locker won't ratchet but the R&P and drvshft will spin being attached to one wheel.

    I had manual
Locking hubs on my old 4runner with a lunchbox and even when they were unlocked it would click a bit. It wasn’t engaged by any means but there was a light clicking for sure.

I’m not sure if it would relate at all to the hubs on our trucks now

Thanks guys, I think I’m leaning towards air locker in the rear and a Detroit trutrac up front after all these helpful replies
