    You absolutely do not have to remove the air dam. Just remove four bolts holding the cheap skip plate and it drops right out, air dam in place. Yes you do need the special oil filter wrench. So what. Buy one and be done, but also get the piece that screws in to the bottom of the filter holder with a hose on the end. Use that and you won't spill a drop. Super easy and super clean. Buy OEM Toyota filters on Amazon or eBay. They come with the O rings and you're good to go. Really, it's not much different that before and once you use the right tools it makes even that much easier. There are plenty of youtube vids out there to show you how but it's pretty easy to figure out on your own too.

    I like the metal cartridge housing. Our RAV4 uses the cartridge filters and has the plastic housing. Would feel better about having a metal one.

    My 1962 International 3414 Industrial tractor has a cartridge oil filter... not, sure how/why they decided on a cartridge filter ?
