    thats a while...guess you got more humidity than me up here
    being a tent camper for years was rough on the camera. had nowhere other than the car to stow it at night and getting up at dawn to chase mooses in 30* was a challenge. Have to hold my breath to use the viewfinder or everything frosts over. OH, and gloves...my Canon 7D and 100-400 lens are both metal bodies. many photos taken with numb hands due to the cold cold metal!

    also if you need any accessories I highly recommend Op Tech. They're based out of MT... about 2 miles from my house in fact. Good quality stuff. I have a couple straps and a neoprene cover that I use when I'm snowshoeing. Keeps the camera safe and dry when I fall without adding a lot of bulk to what I have to carry. I call it my camera parka.

    rained pretty solid for almost an hour. think most of the storm is past me now. had a rainbow. too stormy and cloudy to tell but i think the mountains are still out there. smells better too. first night i've had my AC off and windows open in a while.

    if only we could have that two or three days in a row... would help so much to kill the fires.

    was just reading this article. couple of fires burning near one of my camping spots. the ski area is serving as a base camp for the firefighters. there's also an old FS fire tower lookout at the top of the same mountain that the ski hill is on so that's convenient. they put up a request for volunteers yesterday to help serve meals and prepare to go meals and the roster is already full! i was almost thinking of changing my destination for the weekend (or next) if they needed any more help. still good people out there willing to lend a hand when needed
