Hey all! Former 98' Taco owner looking for another. Looking at getting a 2013 PreRunner w/ SR5 pkg and wanted to know thoughts on value. Has 99K miles, 2 owners from FL who seemed to keep regular maintenance on it and Carfax looks clean. Listed for $24,900 but feel that is slightly steep but dealer is firm on price. Would you pay that?

Test drove and seemed good, just some cosmetic stuff, floppy visor, missing antenna and needs all 4 new tires. No extras on the truck except for a bed cover.

That seems high to me. I have the same year PreRunner with 85,000 miles and I just checked Kelly Blue Book and trade-in value is 18k-21k for "good" condition. Also mine is a TRD Off Road (so slightly more expensive than the SR5 model is)

    I would not.

Doesn't mean the market won't bear that price, just that *I* would not pay it. Which is what you asked.

Assuming this is at a dealer, where you know it's marked up a few $K so they can 'give' someone a great price for their steaming pile of a trade in?

If so, ask them what their cash and carry bottom line is.

Thanks for the input gentlemen! It's not from one of the main dealerships so hoping once we get down to brass tactics they will be more flexible on either the price or give me more for my trade in. @Clearwater Bill I will definitely ask that but how can I use that as a bargaining chip?

It *is* the chip, as its let's them know you know its overpriced for the trading buyer.

You need to know ahead of time what you are willing to pay out the door.

    Ask for their best price.

And getting up to walk away (and being willing to do so) is your biggest tool. Dont let the shortage of certain popular vehicles twist you into overpaying.
