I ended my Taco love when Toyota flubbed the 3rd gen Tacoma. From what I see in the new Frontier, it's what the 3rd gen Tacoma should have been; more power and more gears in the trans. Toyota sure knows how to whiff when it comes to staying competitive in the truck segment.

Don't get me wrong, I think the 3rd gen Tacoma looks good. I just think they fell short on the mechanical side of things. Now imagine if they slap the turbo 3.5 (from the new Tundra) in the Tacoma with an 8spd trans :bananadance:

As big as it looks, supposedly the shell of the cab is the same as the outgoing frontier. Hopefully they fixed the turning radius.

Better infotainment, stronger engine, and I think the front looks better. Overall though, I'm happy with what I have.

I’m still skeptical on the Nissan transmissions.
It’s like they went down hill mid-2000’s when JATCO decide to dedicate most of their new designs to CVT. It’s like they just started throwing stuff together.

I’ll admit, I like the new Nissan. But I’m going to wait and see how good they are in 5 years.
Maybe they can get back to the 90’s era or reliability. I sure hope they do.

Don't post this in the 3rd gen section, people will lose their minds because they built a life and lifestyle around the turd gen. The 3rd gen is basically a truck with calf, pec and bicep implants. It looks the part, but where the rubber meets the road to the mall it all falls apart. The only thing it has going for it is value retention.

My 2018 was easily the worst vehicle decision ever outside buying a MK3 VW Jetta. I'd still give the Jetta higher praise, because at least it was used when I bought it. I should have held out for a 2nd gen Tacoma.

The 2020 Frontier Pro 9 speed I had for a bit shifted nice and smooth compared to my 2018 Tacoma Off Road. The transmission programming in that Frontier they got that bang on right vs. Toyota and their BS.

The Ridgeline owner is at least a little more intellectually honest in their purchase. The typical 3rd Genner has grand dreams of overlanding and pulling 35 foot trailers over them mountains, but quickly realizes $15k worth of aftermarket stuff and the truck is sill not up to snuff. When it comes to the Ridgeline, now Lloyd and Linda with their Ridgeline, they know the Ridgeline can haul their stuff home from the garden centre just fine. There will be no need to bullshit the wife about buying sliders as running boards.
