Transmission line on my 2018 Tacoma. How thick are the walls on these lines?

I’ve had my fair share of rotted out lines but this is a new one. Is it worth to sand down now and coat it? Leave it as is? How long do you suspect it’ll last til this goes?

the oily residue in the pics isn’t fluid leaking just fluid film I put on to prevent the rust from getting worse.

Could last 5 minutes or last 5 years. That looks ugly though, especially that hose clamp.

It probably won't leak until your powertrain warranty expires i.e. another two years. :p

Where's your power steering cooler? Did you replace it with an aftermarket one mounted higher?

    fluid film rust penetrant.

Figured I had time to sand down the lines. Snapped 2 bolts on the front skid plate due to rust...just finished bolt extraction.

Upon sanding the lines have mild to moderate surface rust but it’s the rubber-like barrier on them that are bubbling up. The whole line spanning the whole radiator is basically failing at this point. Guess I’ll trade in before the power train warranty expires.

Only 2 years not even 3. It was off lease when I got it and that’s how it already looked. How it gets bad in this short amount of time is extremely disappointing.
PO must be a nasty pos because this isn’t the only rusty thing on the truck.

I went to buy the new 21 they had in stock. Only one in the area in this spec. Damn dealer sold it before I got there. Wouldn’t order a new one for me either.

this had the same options with 10k miles. And considering my trade in was about to blow at any moment I had to make a move. Didn’t think 2 years would be this bad.

every time I look under this thing I get buyers remorse. If the market wasn’t so short on supply it would’ve been gone months ago.

    I’d change the hose clamp.
Then keep an eye on the lines.

that’s the plan tomorrow. They’re chunks coming off every time you touch em. No clue how they haven’t failed yet. Power steering line is rusting too but I can easily drain and replace. Filling the trans is a different story.

Nope just NY road brine that was left to cook in the heat. Probably rarely ever got up to temp either because the exhaust is rotting away too...
