For you guys running the GlowShift plate @emmett @Scott B. how is it working for you? I had never heard of it before but just read about it in another thread. Sounds like a great way to get oil temp and pressure. Did read some other folks saying its prone to leaking though.

Mine is working just fine. No leaks.

If you decide to go this route, just remember to tighten the bolt mounting the plate to the filter mount every time you change the filter. Loosening the oil filter tends to loosen this bolt. Obviously, if it is to loose, it will leak. But I have found, when it is a little loose, while it does not leak, the oil pressure does not register on the gauge. Since I have oil pressure, my best guess is the non-display is caused from an insufficient ground.

Yup, that makes sense. Im assuming oil temp usually correlates with coolant temp pretty closely given the oil cooler?

I don't monitor oil temp, only transmission temp. It is usually much cooler than engine temp.

You can use this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VHF9QYH/ and replace it inline with your factory oil pressure switch.

When I did my turbo build, I refused to use a sandwich plate. You remove your factory oil pressure switch, thread the fitting into the block, and put your factory switch in the top. The side ports are NPT, which you'd use for your temp and pressure gauges as needed...Way less ghetto, and never have to worry about things loosening up.

Very true - but you can't fit that piece with a supercharger...

Well, that I can't speak of because I'm not a V6, or a rubberband turbo lol.

I've been running the glowshift plate for right at 90k with no issues, I put it on at 15k and I'm at 105k now. Pretty hard to screw up a chunk of aluminum and an o-ring. For what it's worth I've got one of their plates on a tractor and on a Polaris Ranger Diesel to run a remote filter, one since 2010 and the other since 2011, no problems there either.

In regards to oil temp following coolant, you'll find coolant warms up way quicker than oil. I have to drive about 10-15 min before oil gets to about 180. Max oil temps I've seen have been maybe 225F or so, normally they're around 195 - 210.

I don't run my interior lights that bright at all, just was showing how the LED's I'm using match factory. I usually have everything barely illuminated. I've had some other posts describing the lights I used and how they have to be connected to work right.

My gauges were from the Autometer custom shop to have a carbon fiber background, red pointer, etc to match the factory gauges. To get the lights to work correctly the lighting circuit has to be entirely separate from gauge power. A lot of gauges have a common ground for the lights and gauge. I told Autometer what I wanted and the base gauge they used was a 90 sweep for oil temp, they didn't offer a 270 sweep with the lighting circuit separate. The oil pressure one is nice with a stepper motor and everything.

The oil pressure gauge using the stepper motor doesn't require the sender to be grounded to work correctly however the oil temp sensor does. If you look just under the base of the temp sender there's a terminal around the sender to ground. There's also a washer with it. The plate is milled flat at that area and everything tightened up properly.

I wouldn't consider the plate ghetto or anything. The worst is a brass tee, don't use that, it'll eventually fatigue and crack.

My experience parallels Dave B.in Va (in fact, my install was inspired by him in a post some time ago). My adaptor plate has never leaked nor have any of the senders. My plate adaptor was installed using thread locker. My oil temps mirror Daves. I run VDO gauges, because I had them laying around from a past project. My gauge lighting is on with the ignition. I replaced the incandescent gauge lighting with LED's and silicone sleeves (red). The lighting is subtle but effective and the LED's should last the life of the truck.

Awesome info guys. I probably will end up adding a pressure gauge at some point

Dave B is the man. He gave me the mounting plate that he had laying around. The glowshift sandwich plate and gauges are right on the site if you enter in your truck. Gauges are the color changing ones for oil temp and oil pressure. Its nice to have!

GReddy also makes a sandwich plate. Much more expensive, as it is for an oil cooler setup. However, it is thermostatically operated, and has 4 ports.

Glowshift, GReddy, and Mishimoto work well for not only simply adding sensors, but also as a source for a turbo oil feed line.
