YotaWerx Tuning is located in El Paso, TX and is a partnership of local Toyota enthusiasts who offer tuning/flash services for supported vehicles. We have been offering flash services since June 2020.

Linked below is a map of our YotaWerx Tuning network. Please view to see if there is a YW networked tuner near you:
    https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1N0tl8rjAmM08bPGRXzrXyV4mICU4wo_Y&usp=sharing

The nicknames for some of our tune options reflect the differences between them and are inspired by our proximity to Fort Bliss.

You may already know of us as the original owners of Coyoza_Tuning, and the developers of the popular Coyoza tune for the 6MT 3rd gen Tacoma, routinely recommended as the preferred tune available for the manual trans 3GT. The Coyoza custom MT tune and the brand was acquired by CVC Tuning and we have rebranded locally under the new name of YotaWerx Tuning.

Feel free to reach out to us with any questions. We can also be reached on Facebook at YotaWerx Tuning and on Instagram at @yotawerx .. or via email at YotaWerxTuning@gmail.com

Thank you for your support and have a great day!

So described to me what your tune for a AT 3rd gen can provide. I see it's no longer called by it previous name .

We currently do not offer a custom 3GT AT tune, haven't for quite some time.

Local flash services for AT 3GT are for OVTune. Our custom 3GT tune became exclusive for the MT months ago.

Will evaluate reintroducing a custom tune option for the 3GT AT considering the popularity of the other options available. Our niche was the MT and it did/does extremely well, to the point where it was acquired by a 3rd party.

Edit: see below, we elected to reintroduce a new custom 3.5L AT tune, currently testing.

We elected to reintroduce a custom tune for the 3.5L 6AT Tacoma.

This tune is intended to be a solid "in-between" of OVTune 2.0 and Coyoza 1.3

The intent is not to try to take this tune into the battlefield with KD and CVC and Valley Runner and whatever else and say that it's better or best and the one you want, etc. It's not intended to make tune selection more confusing for new customers than it already can be.

We took what we learned from both Coyoza for the AT and our very successful Coyoza for MT and applied it to this reintroduction of a custom tune option for the AT with the intent of simply providing customers with another option available to them. This tune is not for someone who is looking for a very aggressive tune, or a supremely high power tune. You could describe this tune as another daily driver option for the individual that doesn't care to have a race truck. Essentially the same premise that Coyoza for the 6MT was developed on.

Reports by testers are that it's very smooth in terms of cruising, acceleration, and shifting, and that the tune possesses more than acceptable acceleration that does not come on too sharply or snappy, but is simply ready and available when needed. Reports from testers include that the tune holds gears well through hills (although this is largely subjective as terrain and the definition of "hills" varies greatly by location).

Fuel economy discussions are a bit early to have still, and as usual fuel economy encompasses a wide range of factors and influences, but highway economy is looking to be in the 19-21mpg range, in terrain that includes hills, on trucks with additional weight onboard (not grossly overweight, but nonetheless an extra estimated 2-400lbs not including driver/passengers).

Once testing is complete, this tune will be made available for both remote sale and as an option for local flash service in El Paso, TX and the surrounding area.

1st post will be updated shortly...

@shotgunbilly420 I'm tagging you purely because you'd inquired previously about the existence of any new custom tune for the 3.5L AT following our rebranding. Hopefully this information has been helpful to you.

EDIT: YotaWerx Tacoma tunes follow the 4runner tune theme of Weekend Warrior and Active Duty. WW tunes are generally more for stock or close to stock trucks, and/or more casual drivers, while AD tunes are more for aggressive drivers and heavier trucks.

Please reach out to a YotaWerx Tuning Network tuner to inquire about tuning options for your Tacoma.

What were the goals for transmission behavior with this new 6AT tune and how well do you think they were achieved? How about CC behavior?

Goals for transmission behavior were conservative, with fuel economy gains if possible. We elected to retain OVTune shift logic for this tune, because we wanted to offer something more refined without pointlessly competing against the other tune options all over again. That's why this tune is sort of just...another option available. We'll sell it to whomever would like it, but we're already aware it won't be the most popular option because it won't turn your truck into a race truck, and it will never be intended to do so.

    :crapstorm:

For whatever reason, that's a cardinal sin in the 3GT community, idk why. Lol

Instead, we focused on throttle feel and drivability like with our former Coyoza MT tune, emphasizing smoothness rather than jumping back down the rabbit hole again with regards to shift logic.

AT owners have such a wide spectrum of opinion on how the truck should drive and shift and frankly, the idea of entertaining that all over again with the 3GT crowd was not exciting, nor pleasant.

If necessary and if requested by enough customers, we may re-explore torque model tables for holding gears longer but at this time, we intend to retain OVTune shift logic as is while letting the tune provide benefits elsewhere.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there's potential for all of that to result in this being more of an eco-tune, which is fine with us. But fuel economy has lots of variables and will require a lot more dedicated long term testing.

To address your question about CC behavior, that's something we noticed come up with a later iteration of Coyoza (specifically 1.3); something came up where cruise control was no longer playing nicely with previously set shift logic and throttle control. I do not know if it had anything to do with the introduction of CC maps around that time, but that's something we're looking at right now during testing for this YotaWerx tune and I'm still waiting for all current testers to report back with their experiences.

Sounds like this will be the post honeymoon tune, once people decide going full send all the time isn’t enjoyable for a daily.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have similar opinions about aggressive tunes and have tried a couple. I didn't mind the shifting so much as the touchy throttle and peaky torque curve. Increased low end torque, especially off idle, is what really makes the daily driver experience better. I'm currently using an undisclosed tune in development and it has noticeable low end tq gains and transmission behavior somewhere between the stock shifting and the "race tunes". I have never tried or experienced the OV2.0 tune so not sure how much this tune differs from that but I like it and wouldn't mind more options like it. I find that the CC behavior is slow to react to external load changes both by throttle and shifting on stock and any tune I have tried. Holding a lower gear for way too long after cresting a hill is common, for example. Would love something that upshifts quickly when accelerating is no longer required in CC mode.

Tune testing for the YotaWerx 3GT tune continues to go well. Starting to look more like this may be a viable "eco-tune", but hard to say when testers so far have only had little to moderate weight/mods on their trucks.

Feedback is that the fuel economy gains on this tune are noticeable and the tune is very smooth with a predictable and consistent throttle behavior, along with throttle response that is not aggressive but is there if you need it.

This feedback is in line with our goals for the tune, as described above. Although the fuel economy gains admittedly weren't really a planned goal, or expected.

Feel free to reach out if you are interested in testing.

For anyone with a 5th gen 4runner, we have an update on our custom tune testing for the 5T4R here: https://www.4runners.com/threads/yo...s-development-and-feedback.21473/#post-271990

Bump, still looking for 5th gen 4runner testers in case anyone here also has a 5T4R, especially stock or close to stock trucks, and heavy/heavily modified vehicles and/or aggressive drivers.

If you are not in/near El Paso, you will need to either have VFTuner so that you can flash your truck, or someone nearby who can flash for you.

Edit: Also still wanting some more 3GT testers as well.
