Anyone swapped Toyo AT to RT

I searched and couldn’t find anything so if you know of a thread talking about this feel free to post the link.

But, I love my Toyo AT’s but it’s about time to replace them. My question is has anyone swapped from the ATs to the RTs. I’ve read reviews from big sites, but just want some real world reviews. I’m not going to be running In the snow anymore so the smaller tread marks of the AT won’t matter anymore to me. So I guess I’m asking about road noise, better traction on mud and dirt? Or is just a more aggressive looking tire that drives like the AT?

 

I’ve got RTs and love them, had K02 previously and they were good too. Might go lighter with AT3 next time but honestly I love the RT look. I’ve got no complaints.

Duratracs actually have one the best sidewall protection AND rim protection. I believe you sir, are talking out of your ass.

 

I don’t have them on my Taco, but I’m running Toyo AT3s on my 4runner and I love them. I think they’re the best tires I ever had, honestly. I have 265/75/16 Wildpeaks on my Taco and I had to balance them twice (the 2nd time on a road force machine) and I also had to find the sweet spot to inflate them to (40 PSI) just to get them to not shake the steering wheel at highway speeds. If I take them down to 35, they still shake in the 60-70 mph range.

My Toyos are 34s (285/75/17s) and they balanced perfectly right off the bat, even on a 20 or 30 year old machine. They’re quiet and smooth on road, great traction off road and in the snow, nice looks, and seem to be wearing slowly and evenly after the 1st 9 or 10 months. When the Wildpeaks wear out, I plan to get AT3s on my Taco too.

 

Haha. Say that to my blown out duratrac on the trail from a small rock. I then researched and found many failures. Mostly jeep guys and few here. Seemed they didn't like being aired down.

 

Yeah I’ve had Toyo at’s for the past 4 years and they are great, and if I don’t go RTs I’m going to get another set

 

Fair to say that research will prove that all tires have failures from Off Roading. Even KO2's have been knocked off their perch.

 

AFAIK, the AT3s didn’t debut until last year. Are you sure you don’t have AT2s? The 3s are an improved version over the 2s for traction and wear.

 

Been wheeling 20 years. Mostly rock crawling in CO. Ran ko1s, km2s, 3s, treadwrights, Chinese tires. Duratracs were my only failure and sidewall cut up super easy. Researching now it seems they upgraded the walls from 3 ply to 10 ply years back. All being said I have duratracs on wifes tacoma that don't see much hard core wheeling. Love the performance and they wear really well.

I went from the RT to the AT. Was not a fan of RT. ATs are quieter and perform as well off road. I found the RTs to be nail and screw magnets as well.
