This is a 2018 Tacoma TRD 4x4 Off Road with almost 96,000 km on it (and, it's a lease!). I use it for work which requires an actual lot of off-roading. I have to say I'm not super impressed with the integrity of this truck bed. I added a canopy, and the stress of the bed moving and cracking has actually f-ed it right up as well. I am in for a service this week, and will be dragging someone out to the parking lot to show them this!!

Welcome to Tacoma World, sorry you joined under these circumstances.

How hard of off roading do you do? I just got a camper and also don’t have bed stiffeners (yet).

Thanks. Just nuts. I drove Toyotas in the early 90s over some seriously hard bush roads, and never saw anything like this happen. They don't make them like they used to!

    1. I am not a man, but thank you for making that assumption.
    2. I live in an area of BC where a lot of people work in forestry (such as myself) who drive Toyota pick up trucks. You would think that if this is a potential issue (obviously it is) given the road conditions we encounter, and the distances we drive (upwards of 500 km per day on shit roads), the Toyota dealer in my area would have suggested something like this, but they did not. When I drove Toyotas PUs more than 30 years ago, this was not something that ever happened. In the interim, I have driven Ford and GMC PUs, and this was never a problem, even with the loads I often carried (more so than I do now, actually, as I don't pack around an ATV or snowmobile, loads of firewood, or round hay bales in the Tacoma - just the canopy and field gear - where I can't go with the Tacoma, I walk).
    3. Thank you for the link.

You are absolute right. I made an assumption.
    Sorry about that.

It’s 100% my fault. But if you were to select a gender, it would help us know.
If you look under my name, just above my truck info. You’ll see gender.
You can find this in your profile options.

    Again, my fault.

HOLY CRAP!! There is no need to apologize! I do realize the world is batshit crazy and nearly everyone apologizes for everything these days, but seriously? I didn't take offense. I am more so POd with my Toyota dealer!!!

    I didn't specify a gender because I really think it's irrelevant.

I am also not a lumberjack, but thanks for the fond memory :):). Very Canadian too.

    Hey HisDad and TnShooter...

A man who knows how and WHEN to SINCERELY apologize is not showing weakness, but actually STRENGTH.

What I want to know now is whether one of these bed stiffeners will solve my current problem?? (Jokes about stiffeners aside).

Honestly, they don't make these things like they used to, and Toyota dealership knew the reason I was using the truck for, especially when I registered it to my company. But then again, maybe they assumed a woman wouldn't drive like a man. LOL!

I may not be a lumberjack, but I do pack a chainsaw, and I do work alone in the woods. I also do know, however, that dudes at service shops often try to take advantage of a woman thinking that they won't know better otherwise.

    Much appreciated in advance!
