Good Headunit speakers and sub combo

hey guys, what is a good speaker and sub combo pack with a head unit.....im new to this audio stuff, so give me some slack lol

well that all depends on a few things...

what are you looking for in an improved stereo? TONS of bass? what kind of music do you listen to?

what do you want your head unit to do?

what kind of budget are you working with?

are you the kind of person to want EVERYTHING done at once or can you piece it together over time to ensure you get the EXACT sound you are looking for?

 

I listen to mostly rock music...heavier stuff like breaking benjamin and r3d.....and i like a medium amount of base......id like to do everything at once just so i have a system that works...and i just need a cd/ ipod head unit...none of the dvd ones....just one that will connect with my ipod and play cd's.....and im in the lower range....300 bucks or so....and i have to add i have a 2nd gen regular cab, so the sub cant be huge...

 

also, since im new to audio stuff, how easy will it be to wire a sub, speakers and a new head unit

 

It's fairly easy...just read the sticky threads or do a search.

 

alright so i found the braket thing to mount the system i found....i really like the sony xplod with speakers combo from crutchfield, so now i just need to find a good sub to fit in my regular cab taco...........and will i need an amp for that?

 

I'm not trying to be mean and I did see that you said that you are new to car audio, but you are not new to TW which is why I'm not sure why you started 3 different threads that were asking the same thing. You obviously still have not done a search at all because I searched the A/V thread for "regular cab subs" and came up with 38 hits...most of which answer your sub question already. A couple even had links to where they bought the box from.

 

to be honest, i would put money on your factory speakers sounding better than most of the sony ones on the market. if you want to be happy with your system, do what it takes to piece it together the right way. the first thing i would do if you're working with a $300 dollar budget and want an improvement in sound quality, and want ipod interface is pick up a new head unit and some good speakers.

keep in mind that a quality install will greatly effect your results.

for the money, this kenwood is pretty awesome. it interfaces with ipod through its frontal USB port which also allows you to use more basic storage devices like flash drives.

i would just start with this head unit untill you have enough to buy a good amp to power your speakers/sub. you will notice an improvement in your factory speakers just by adding this head unit.
