So I'm trying to fit 285/75r16s on a 2006 tacoma I was told a 1in. Wheel spacers would do it, but will that cause alot of damage to my truck?

Try reading up on 285's instead of a vague question about spacers.

I did, they will rub on the UCA's, that's why someone said a 1in. Wheel spacer would work!

Nothing was mentioned about wheel size and offset. That plays a big role as well.

Do a search here on wheel spacers and 50 people will tell you they are using quality hubcentric spacers and have never had any issues. And 50 others will tell you that you are going to ruin things so dont do it. So there is no absolute answer. Do your research and make your own decisions. Make sure you differentiate between opinion and fact. There is a ton of bad information passed off as advice on this topic.

I bought some 4 years ago for my ‘09 and never got around to installing. Just got a new ‘21 so I dug them out , still brand new in the box .
Im thinking of putting them on when I get my new wheels installed next week. Plus the truck is under warr for the next few years lol so I am completely not worried at all.

Wheel spacers are just a cheap alternative to getting wheels with a different offset. I prefer not using them unless absolutely necessary. They're just another point of failure that isn't really necessary.

Spacers might help stop the tires from rubbing the UCA, but they also put your tires closer to the fenders, potentially causing rubbing there, too.

@SilverLightning you make no mention of the lift or anything else on your truck (stock/aftermarket UCAs, etc...). All that plays a roll in rubbing. A lot of people run 285's, but more often than not, they're also running after market wheels, a lift, new UCAs, and other things like a a cab mount chop, pinch weld mod, etc...

If anything, mod like that would tend to void the warranty.

Lol. I’m sure they will be ok. Yes if they fail and my wheel falls off I understand that damage wont be covered. But Im very confident in the quality of the part and my ability to install it properly. So its a chance Im willing to take. If a failure were to occur the truck would be returned to stock for any warranty evaluation. Living dangerously in 2021.

So you're planning to take off the aftermarket part(s) that failed. How then would you explain how the damage happened?

I don't think that's going to work out like you think it would. lol.

Lol What damage? Its not my job to tell them anything. If I have a complaint they will either fix it or tell me to pound sand. Ive had ujoints, carrier bearing , rear leaf springs and 4x4 actuator all replaced under warranty. Original factory warranty….

I have 5100’s , and Timbren SES on all 4 corners, and Im also not running ‘stock’ tires.

Plus I even have a Western snowplow installed on the truck which gets attached by drilling six 3/4” holes into my frame, to attach a plow frame . Not to mention the electrical system mods from the plows lighting and hydraulic systems.
Ive never had any warranty issues ever.
Even got a new frame since the old one was rusted and met the criteria.

When the frame was replaced the dealer did not reinstall the plow frame, that was on me. When my leaf packs were warrantied, they put factory bump stops on, and gave me back my Timbrens in a box. I was told for warranty , it must leave the shop in a factory condition .
I reinstalled everything the next day, easy peasy.

So if the dealer wanted an opportunity to deny warranty work to anyone, my truck was certainly a candidate.
