I just picked up this little beauty from a buddy. He bought it last fall, and shoved it into his Quonset. Then he realized with two 1972 hilux’s getting 1UZ’s, and becoming a) a snow wheeling 38” tire monster, and b) a slammed, 2 wheel drive drift truck, having c) a pretty cool, near stock hilux in need of rust repair, made no sense. Especially since he’s got a 1993 SAS’d extra cab pickup. I have a warn RC9 winch, which he’s been lusting after for some time, as in addition to the afore mentioned trucks, he also has a KOH truck, stock class, and has a single seater buggy. He’s got one outfitted with the same winch, and wanted mine to match. So, some horse trading, some beer drinking, and we managed a trade!

Plans currently are to clean it up enough for my two youngest to use for school by next fall, and then look at a sleeper build for it. Keep it stock looking, but transplant a better efi motor, with an extra transfer case into it. A winch, and some 33x10.5” tires. Lockers. All the stuff to make a capable truck for the exploring I love to do.

And found a good cab. The white cab is rotten. And had a tree fall on it. It was written off, and with the rot, there’s no way to pass a salvage inspection. The cab has a clean VIN, and is nearly rust free.

The box needs some clean up and patch work, but it’s in better shape than many up here!

Well, the 82 got traded for this 1970 FJ40. She’s rough, but I’d rather have the Landy. My daughter has her licence as of Friday, and will likely be running my Tacoma, I’ll use to for wheeling, but time to build up my dream rig. It’s gonna be a bit, but this will become an FJ45 clone.
