ok, just passed 333K on my 4cyl. It runs fine, uses a 1/2 qt or so of dino oil between 5-7K changes. The valves & compression were checked at 280K and they were fine. I changed out the factory water pump, starter and alternator at also at 280K. All the ingnition stuff at 300K. It never had any power so I've not noticed a degradation. The truck has zero rust and I'd like to keep it forever

Seems that you have a very good start on forever. You must have started with very good habits.

Stay on top of maintenance as you have been... forever is definitely within reach, or until ICEs are banned LOL.

Sounds like your taking good care of it. Might want to check the ball joints as I believe they are a weak point on 1st gens.
Also climb under it and wire brush the rusty spots and touch them up with some paint.

Change the oil at 5000 or less and probably won’t use any oil. The 4 cylinder engines have been known to go well over 500k

Try putting a bottle of ZMAX in it with oil changes. It remove varnish and slug build up, gets in everything. I had a 1996 Tacoma, with a 2.4 that got sluggish and started using more gas, the ZMAX felt like a good tune up, really made a difference! Also Marvel Mystery Oil, does the same thing and is a lot cheaper than ZMAX.
