I've always heard that WD-40 is used to free up stuck parts that should be moving freely but are not. Once the parts are "un-stuck" you should add an actual lubricant to keep it moving freely....

Just something I've heard before.

 

I don’t think wd40 will really hurt it. I actually degreased it like 20 minutes ago to clean up all the trash that collects in the fuel door

OH SHIT... Now I get it. OH YEAH! I LIKE IT!!! Yeah - now I like the project. At first I was wondering what the hell was going to go in there - and I kept wondering what they were doing. But now - yeah it totally makes sense.

Makes sense - prototype work is usually more expensive than the finished production model. You run into all kinds of odd shit when you are making prototypes. Believe me... I do it all the time. But yeah - I kind of expected the initial cost for this custom mode would be 3-5x typical mass production costs.
