I always do a walk around with service when I drop it off and when I pick it up and tell them, notice there is nothing wrong, no dents, scratches inside and out, if it's not returned the same way, I expect it corrected.....same thing they do when they give u a loaner. I'm always nice and have never had a single issue doing it like this. keeps us both honest.

Oh wow, I too was missing an oil cap, and also my organizer in my glove box with all my papers and owners manual stuff. When I walked back into the service dept, they said are you sure? Manager came took a look and -An hour later I had a new oil cap, ny organizer with papers-and a free oil change added on to my plan. I haven’t gone back since. My rationale is if they can miss something as easy as oil fill cap and a huge organizer with papers, what happens when a serious issue comes. No thanks!

I check the work they do. I can do myself but is warranty most times. I’ve had them run over a bolt and ruin a tire. Ruin 8 rims swapping tires. Told they were gonna fix my ebrake since it locks the truck up and need 4low to break free and has to be working freely to pass inspection. Passed it and still doesn’t work. Rear leafs creak like mad. Told they would grease fix. I had to do it myself. Was told they updated the ECU for a tsb twice that they never did. Had to show them the scan file of the wrong version. There’s more. But Toyota is a fucking joke to deal with. Corporate doesn’t care nor will do anything after multiple complaints.

Unless it's warranty related I do my maintenance myself or bring it to a locally owned shop. Dealerships charge too much to warrant bringing my vehicle there - I already spent 33,000 through them.

Update, I called the dealership this morning and talked to the service manager about the issue. I was polite about the problem since I understand things do happen. They ordered me a new one free of charge and I should have it tomorrow.

I have one particular service writer I go to at my dealer who works mostly with one particular experienced tech. She has me call her directly to book my services instead of going through the service department's scheduling line, and she always makes sure Chris (the tech) is scheduled to work on my truck. Have been very happy so far going this route. And she always comes out with me to do the walk-around before and after the service. If she goes to work somewhere else I'm screwed! LOL

You're lucky they even found your truck. When I brought my FJ (Sun Fusion) in for its first service - they claimed they couldn't find it in their parking lot.
Parked 20' outside in front of their window
Parked in a lot of neutral colored vehicles - yellow sticks out

Never been back, just meant I had to buy more tools every time I needed to service something.

I've got aftermarket wheels and locks.
I avoid the rotation as I want to be able to remove them easily if I get a flat.
I put the lock key in my pocket while at the dealer..lmfao

They treat people really especially well when they have someone that leases or pays full asking price without trying to negotiate.

Dealer 27 miles from here has been really good with service...just not cheap, but when they schedule the job and tell you it'll be an hour, they dead on. Theres another in a smaller town a few miles further away then them thats just as good, and charges less for the same work. I've been to both. Impeccable work.

They are, plus they don't gouge me on hours. Chris the tech is very fair with the time he bills for things like accessory installation and he does a very thorough job. He did my OEM auto tailgate lock and billed 1.5 hours, which I gladly paid to not have to crawl under the truck in my driveway. The Toyota accessory page for that part lists 2 hours as the install time.

That's quality service. I like one of the service writers at our local dealership and my salesman has been great through two vehicles now but I still can't be bothered to spend as much as they want when a local shop can get it done, and done properly at a fraction of the price. It's great supporting a local shop too, keeps our slowing economy going one dollar at a time.

Even using TRUE price..your not going to negotiate much off the sticker...especially in this market.
I get the dealer to drop their fees.
This truck will be my last new vehicle..I only have about 20 good years left..they can bury me in it..lmfao

Somehow, some way I was able to get MSRP on my 2021 this May and apparently that just doesn't happen at this particular dealership. I've known other people who've tried to purchase Tacomas here and they've been flat out refused any form of discount and told to go elsewhere. I realize MSRP isn't amazing but in Canada with our limited availability and only one dealership in a 450km radius.. I felt lucky lol.

It was the end of the day and I needed my ride so I grabed the keys the service desk and went home.
