I have a '98 taco and replaced the rear bumper last year due to some rust issues...very common I think. Anyhow, I tried to buy a aftermarket bumper that was close to OEM quality but I failed miserably. The aftermarket has terrible rust already and I live in South Carolina! Anyhow, I'm just looking to find a OEM type with good quality chrome or maybe something black and more heavy duty than OEM. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance. Here's a pic. of my rig:

I keep my aftermarket replacement wiped down with Fluid Film and spray the back side heavily.
Even the painted aftermarket bumpers rust fast.

Thanks for the advice. I may just try and come up with a creative "patch" for the small rust-through hole on my OEM or find a used OEM in good shape (if that's even possible)

Just for the record, who is the manufacturer (or where did you buy) the aftermarket chrome rear bumper that is rusting. I need to replace my '97 Tacoma 4x4 Chrome Bumper and have been considering aftermarket because Toyota is backordered on this bumper. On the other hand, if no one can recommend a good aftermarket supplier of this chrome bumper, then I may just wait until it is back in stock at Toyota. Thanks.

Hello. I checked on Toyota websites for an OEM rear bumper multiple times over a year or more and have never seen this bumper available. I hope you have better luck. I bought an aftermarket off E-bay in Feb., 2020 and the supplier is no longer listed. I chose the bumper based on price, good reviews, and the best guess on quality based on the description. However, most reviews rarely have longer term use comments. I feel most all of these aftermarket OEM style bumpers are cheap imitations and not nearly the quality of OEM. I’m looking for a good used OEM or may just repair my original bumper. Best.
