Can’t you just do some minimal water/meth injection and keep the valves clean that way? Or can you not do that with direct injection engines.

I didn't run meth injection on my VW so I don't have direct experience with it. People say that yes, methanol injection can help keep the valves clean. Of course, I've also read the opposite. Ultimately, I decided not to go this route on my car due to cost and constantly having to fill the tank. When I build a vehicle, I like it to be as easy to live with as possible.

Thinking about these parts before going full Intake - Total would be around $250

    https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-par...chnik-air-inlet-scoop-kit/004373la~dk/?pdk=Bw

    https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine...Ap9pTCIpNmaIGUrBdQWDfKyPYD3CFfYhoCNU8QAvD_BwE

Full Intake - $380 and would benefit from the air inlet scoops most likely

    hmmmmm

Found this guy's website where he tests all modifications on his GTI

Pretty neat to see actual test results between mods

Attempted to make the Thule SideArms work for the OEM VW crossbars but after a bunch of tinkering I need to fab something up to get these to work or find hardware that will work.

After some research, it appears that the best solution is to order 1Up Roof rails with the flush mount hardware.

    https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/745834-Roof-Rack-Review-Thule-and-1Up-USA

Their proprietary hardware should fit into the slot perfectly

I actually already have a black one, but I know the black will eventually fade in the sun as all anodizing does. Bonus that the silver accents on the car will match well with the silver bike racks, so I had to order 2 :)

Now to wait 1-2 weeks (with the expedited shipping) for their arrival.

Okay, after a full 2 weeks of ownership here’s everything I can find wrong with it:

Stumbled upon this hack job fix with a Phillips head screw and 2 mid matched stacked washers to hold the mirror in place

    3E185041-FD70-470F-AC8F-641D37D11BBF.jpg

There are 3 fine cracks in the windshield, 2 at the bottom and one in the center. All horizontal and with no signs of impact. The center one might be a repair job, as I can feel the difference in texture with my nail. Also from my seating position it’s directly behind the mirror so I never saw it until yesterday.

It looks like this car suffered from the infamous panoramic roof leak at some point in its life. It poured last night and this morning I thought I saw a wet spot, but it didn’t feel wet when I investigated, it looks like a dark stain. But what I could see with the camera on my phone was the remnants of past leaks. - the day it was mine I took it through the touchless car wash to test the roof as it’s getting blasted with water and it didn’t leak. A leaking pano roof was the major deal breaker for me as it’s a PITA to deal with so I’ll keep a close eye on it.

    Driver side rear:
    9EB9CDC3-4952-4B62-87D6-F6DEDF20C3C9.jpg

The rear passenger door has weird dents for some reason, like something was between the seal and the door and the door was slammed hard:

    1D8CA927-BFDC-4A58-A84C-E98980C37CE7.jpg

After driving 500 miles in this thing I still absolutely love it though. It drives wonderfully, has amazing gas milage, and has been a great little daily. I hope this is the worst of what I find with it and the roof doesn’t actually leak. And yeah, I know it’s a used car, I never expect perfection. But I bought my Tacoma with less than 1/3 the miles and it didn’t have this many random things that were wrong with it. Maybe the previous owners were just more careless or unlucky

Try a steam cleaner on those headline stains.

And I bet that ripple on the rear door is from someone getting into the car after a lockout.

I'll def try a steam cleaner! do you have a recommendation on which one to buy?

Like they forgot their key? the key on the fob can be slid into the driver door handle notch, but I'm not sure if or how you can lock your keys in this car with the keyless prox sensors in the front doors.

I have a Wagner one I got off Amazon for $100 that works well.

Or they misplaced them. Who knows what people do? Or your guess is correct.

You know, every time I bust out the pressure washer to wash our vehicles, my wife comes over and takes it so she can wash off the house, the walkway, garbage cans, etc...
