I'm 6'2", so I sit pretty close to the interior ceiling.. But something in the last few years I've notice is a major blind spot looking for traffic coming from the right when at an intersection. A car can be hidden in the right sill pillar and then behind the rearview mirror. I've entered a intersection a few times because of this. Mirror seems to hang pretty low.

I might try to modify this. Not much I can do to the right sill, but think the mirror is moved higher, I will not have the car enter the blind spot and not see it until they pass in front of me. It's even worse if the right traffic is coming down of a slight hill so they are elevated above my sight.

Anyone else do a mirror mod because of this? :boink:

You could try and change your side mirrors to ‘tow mirrors’ to help with the blind spots.

I went with the below for a lot of reasons. First being, I have a lift and couldn’t see the rear tires. Second being, better blind spot vision. Third, OEM fit and overall better mirrors

    https://spottermirror.com/p/toyota/2016-2020-tacoma-2014-2020-4runner/

The above don’t have BSM but they do sell them

The mirror stem has two pivots. I raised mine a bit with them but yeah, I’ve noticed the shielding from the A-pillars as well but it’s there for many vehicles, you have to move to look around them.

This really helped me, it was nice to shift it up an inch or so...

Have a canopy over the bed, so I removed my review mirror completely. I also modded the backup camera view so I can turn it on any time - yeah it's wider angle than the mirror view, but still helpful.

The little round stick on mirrors work great, had them in my 2nd gen and now on my 3rd gen.

I installed a driver’s side spotter mirror and waiting on stock for the passenger side version. Doesn’t distort as much as the stick-on types since the convex portion is more elongated.

Mount a camera on the front angled towards your blind spot? I have the germes lab camera system, two presses of the mode button on the steering wheel I can view either the front or rear camera. I use it exiting my drive which is stupidly steep to help see over the hood, has stopped me squishing the neighbors dog in one instance...

It's great for off roading too when crawling over steep rises...

You shouldn't have much of a blindspot if you set your mirrors correctly

I flipped my mirror upside down and it greatly improved the visibility out the window. The top part of the mirror is touching the roof so it’s a tight fit

Yes, I've found that, paradoxically, the outside rear-view mirrors themselves create blind spots. (This is worse on the driver's side than on the passenger side.) Perhaps the mirrors are a bit too large?

You learn to compensate by moving your head to see around the mirror.

You're going to have that A-pillar problem with most new vehicles...that side curtain airbag doesn't appear out of thin air.

I think the rear view suggestions above are great. Thanks for the replies ... I will give them a shot. I was mostly looking for the rearview blocking the view from the driver side looking right at an intersection stopped.

Side note a police friend who did a lot of accident investigations one told me to put one finger up in front of my eye and said it produces a blind spot big enough to hide a bike or pedestrian. Blind spots are no joke.

It’s hilarious how many people have responded to this without reading the original post.
