This is what I'd consider. The rc4wd stuff is realistic but power and speed leave a lot to be desired.

 

Picked up the body today!



First coat of liquid mask brushed on.

Got some wheels for it too.



Also ran a couple laps at the Super G track.

 

Dude that thing is sick. I love how you cut the fenders, the website shows them like shit. Damn it, why do i need one now.

 

Still needs some more refinement and small details but its basically done.

 

So maybe a stupid question but has anyone that's running or ran Portal axles ever had to change out the transmission to make them work ?

I don't like the transmission behind the portals on the Capra. Gearing is wrong..... The axial 3 gear is a nice setup behind scx10ii portals from Vanquish. 3 gear trans works with Capra axles too as they are similarly geared.

Depends on the setup I'd say possibly to get them right. Should work though

I ran into a group of guys running drift cars the other night. After talking for a few minutes, they recommended a hobby store in San Jose called JJ Customs. It turns out it's closer to me than my usual place. Their website is kinda meh. But the store is nicely laid out-all the RTR stuff is opened and sitting on a shelf--you can look at everything. Staff is pretty knowledgable too. I might buy Yokomo YD-2 drift chassis from them.

 

There is a guy on YouTube that frequents that shop. I can't remember the name. Hwy some number.....maybe. I think they are a legit shop that also supports the add crawl event run yearly near you ...

My drift car is the yokomo yd-2s. It's pretty fun out of the box but I'd recommend one with all the hop ups if you think you'll end up upgrading it.

 

Maybe I'd have to get on YouTube and do some research. I think they toured the shop or did some videos with them
