it was not bad at 11am but 2pm it was packed. The rides area and the row of bars got a little bit busy. $7 for a ice cold beer and $10-12 for a mixed drink. I had several of each

Looking to pick up some GMRS hand held radios as it looks like peeps are migrating that way. I did a keyword search in both this and the WisCOMMsin threads and didn't see anything for handhelds.
I was considering these unless someone has a better recommendation:
    https://midlandusa.com/product/gxt1030vp4-two-way-gmrs-radio/

For as much as I intend to use them I think handheld is a better option for me vs something permanently installed in the truck.

I have a pair of Midland GTX 1000 that I’ve had all summer, they seem to work as advertised and are well regarded. In fact, we used 4 of them on the last pipeline outing. I was using both that and my CB, the Midlands worked better.

No worries! my CB isn't going anywhere. I'm just using some of the spoils of my overtime to plan ahead.

Good to know. My biggest complaint about the CB is just the extraneous traffic. Especially folks running hot amps to blast all over everyone else. Seems I'm always fiddling with the squelch.

Although a more expensive option I picked up one of these grms handhelds.

Depends what you are doing but the handhelds work pretty well. For longer trips you’ll want to be sure to have a way to recharge or batteries on standby.

the mxt275 is easy enough to temporarily install or move between vehicles. Still nice to have a handheld or two for spotting though

Fancy! It's pretty short, though. I still love the Silky Saw. No batteries necessary! :)

I thought you might be! I remember you and I racing to show off our Silky saws last year when we came across a down tree blocking the trail. :D

I wonder how many of the people who were there went and ordered one when they got home.

I have my basement fridge low.
My beer and Apple pie Moonshine is 34° so if the power goes out I’ll be ok till I decide to hookup the generator.
