Spent the day heading out towards some remote lakes. Finally got to see how the new OME suspension holds up to the new bumper, RTT and 250lbs of dogs. There were a couple of obstacles that required a locked diff and low gear. Was a blast...

One from last weekend in Oregon. Spotted an ash blue mica GX470 on the beach and various Tacomas and 4runners.

Not sure where in Oregon you were (obviously the coast), but let me know if you ever come to Central Oregon. Would love to explore with a fellow GX...

    Well shit. Just noticed this...

Anyone in here replaced CV's? Just curious how everyone feels about aftermarket vs OEM etc. In the 1st Gen pages, they seem pretty adamant about OEM. What say you?

Ordered an OEM boot kit for my ripped CV. Didn't realize that it's an aftermarket CV currently installed until I discovered that it was a 36mm axle nut instead of a 35mm.

Got everything disassembled and cannot for the life of me get this axle to unseat from the diff. Tried every pry bar, slide hammer etc. Won't budge. Decided to try one of these to see if it'll help get the proper bite with a slide hammer...

Also decided to order these as a just in case...

It's a little disheartening to use an OEM boot kit on an aftermarket axle, so I may end up ordering an OEM one later down the road for peace of mind and save this rebuilt aftermarket one as a trail spare.

    Shitty...

Rotate the axle. The c clip might be in a bad spot and needs to be adjusted

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I've read that aftermarket axles can be a real bitch with shitty c-clips. I'm finding that to be the case. Also noticed that this side had an aftermarket OTRE. Wonder if they are related?

Either way, I'm giving up for the day with the heat and frustration and will have to get back to it tomorrow.

Was really hoping to get it all situated this weekend with a trip coming up...

I’d much rather be changing out acc axle than what I’m doing with my Tacoma.

Finally got the CV done. Took the CV tool, a slide hammer and some extra persuasion to get the old one out. While rebuilding it, I noticed that the OEM clamps (supplied with the kit) were not going to work. Got some clamps from NAPA and went to town. Got it all buttoned back up today and took her for a spin. Everything is kosher again...
