Did you install them yet? What tires did you pick and do you have a lift?

4Runner SEMA wheels. TRD Factory lift kit.
Installed with KO2s (265/70-17). I have the OEM lift which is 1” block in the back and 2” in front. No rubbing with the lift. The wheels/tires were installed the day before the lift so the alignment would be done with the current setup. I also have the Rekgen mud flaps. Before the lift was installed the new tires and wheels would rub on the mud flaps.

Yes, I have noticed that a lot of TW guys like the 265/70-17 tires.

I have a stock TRD Sport with oem mudflaps. Do you think this size would work with TRD Pro wheels without issues or should I stick to oem tire size of 265/65-17?

Not sure. Reading other threads it seems to be all over the place on whether they work or not. I know I had rubbing issues and would expect the same with oem mudflaps.

Did you have to grind a millimeter or so off of the rear hub rings to get the rears to mount correctly. I bought a '21 DBSC TRD-OR last month and the 2021 version of the 4runner TRD wheels like you have in your second pic and had to have the rear hub rings ground down just a tiny bit so the wheel would seat properly; as it was it would not seat at all and be borderline unsafe. I've also had some really weird balancing issues with these 2021 wheels, have you run into that?

Nice. I bought my truck from Bill Penney in Huntsville and also bought the 2021 version of those wheels from their Parts Dept. I bought a bunch of other stuff too but they charged me $833.00 for the 4 wheels and $108.80 for the center caps. The more I think about it the more I think I might actually switch the "older" 2017-2020 design and sell these.

I don’t think my installer had to do that but I’m not 100% certain. I would imagine if that was the case my guy would’ve told me about that. From what I understand he didn’t have any issues and I haven’t had any issues with the wheels since they were installed. They balanced out just fine and it rides smoothly. I had someone message me a couple months ago with the same question you had. Also, his lug nuts kept falling off from the rear. He just happened to notice the lug nuts laying in his driveway. Scary stuff!

What size tire combinations were/are on the truck? I have a set of black 17" on order for a 2021 TRD sport which should arrive this month. Probably running Toyo Open country AT III's and torn on whether to stay 265 65 17 vs 70 series tires. Prefer not to have rubbing and lose power when towing 3000lbs occasionally due to diameter. Will be a big change coming from a 2017 F150 3.5 ecoboost that loves to eat cam phasers...
Any 6 foot bed trucks with the TRD rim pictures out there? :D

On my 2019 I had the older version OEM 17” 4R wheels with 265/70r17 Cooper STT Pros and I didn’t have any rubbing issues. I also had a 1” leveling kit from HeadStrong off-road.

currently I have virtually the same set up. I have a 2021 with the new version OEM 17” 4R wheels with 265/70r17 Nitto Trail Grapplers. I don’t have any rubbing issues with this set up either. Same leveling kit. I don’t tow very often but I did tow my 800 lb golf cart on a 6x14 utility trailer a few weeks ago. Trailer weighs about 1,200 lbs I’m guessing so maybe 2,000 lbs at most. Not sure on the numbers. But it pulled just fine I could hardly feel the trailer back there. If any loss on towing I imagine it’d be negligible.

edit #1: Now that I think about it on my 2019 I did have rubbing on the mud flap at full lock but I took those off right after getting the tires installed. My 2021 didn’t come with mud flaps so no rubbing at all.

What are the old/new version differences?

edit: never mind, there’s another thread all about it and was able to find the info.

I got the emblems from Amazon. See link below.

    https://www.amazon.com/Auto-safety-...uine+3M+Adhesive+2+Pack&qid=1628518516&sr=8-3

But there are several members here who 3D print them and have them for sale. Just type it in the search bar and you should find some. Also I think Runnin' 4 Tacos had some for sale at one point. I think I got the emblems from R4T on my last Tacoma.

I too just got a 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport and will be getting these wheels.

Will the the standard 17 " tires fit these rims?

Is the offset the same on these wheels as the stock 2021 TRD Sport wheels?

What tires did you end up going with + what size? Also is your truck stock height? :) I'm getting the same wheels in next week and trying to decide!
