Hi, I have a 2015 Tacoma V6 off road with Tow package that I bought new. It has 80,000 miles on it. I'm moving to Panama sometime in January so the truck will have approximately 90,000 miles on it.

I wondered if anyone can answer a few questions:

I believe Tacoma's built for Latin America don't have the emission systems we have in the U.S..
I won't need to have the catalytic converter repaired but I may need an exhaust someday. Do Panamanian trucks use the same 3.4 L V6? If not, I'm worried about getting parts. Panama doesn't use ethanol, would my engine need to be tuned differently to run on higher octane fuel.

If anyone has any thoughts on this or any other potential problems I haven't thought about, I'd appreciate the feedback.

I have seen Tacomas in Costa Rico and understand they are sold in Mexico. A HiLux may be the closest thing to a Tacoma sold in the most of central and south america.

    Welcome to TacomaWorld
    Same 3.4L
    87 octane is recommended
Non E is a big plus
Anything over 89 octane is a waste of money.

The lowest octane available in Panama is 91 so I don't really have a choice.

they don't offer Tacoma's in SA, just Hilux. not sure how many parts are interchangeable between them though. You can always order parts online and have them shipped. Its what we did in europe.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting parts. Sailors curising the world often pass through Panama and fix things on their boats before crossing oceans, so it's clearly not uncommon to have stuff shipped to Panama. Plus really, how often will you need stuff unexpectedly? Chances are good that with proper maintenance and care you'll never have an issue.

    spend $100

buy a case o oil filters

    buy a few air filters

    a few sparkplugs

the usual routine maintenance items in the event parts availabilty is slow or wonky
