Recently bought an 07 Tacoma and I’ve become painfully aware of this high pitched electrical frequency coming from the dash area. Specifically, behind the glove box. From other another thread that I was reading it’s the ECU making the noise.
I just upgraded from an 02 that never made a noise like this.

Anybody else experience this and resolve it?

    Thanks

Turn the fan off and see if it goes away.
I've never heard an ECU make any noise at all.

Could be one of the three AC Servo Motors they are in that area.

I have been hearing the same thing. Its behind the glove box, sounds louder right where the ECU is. Fan on then off no change in the sound. It's somewhere in the 8k-9khz range, pretty high pitched, and constant, It is surely an electrical whine imo. There was a recall for the ECU in tacomas with the auto trans...?

Zero electronics in the audible range way above human hearing.

What? I have good hearing. I can hear 9khz easily on a bad day. Every day actually, because this damn whine fails to cease.

Maybe get a stethoscope under there and find the source.

Are you sure it’s not some noise being induced through the tweeter near the dash?

The 4WD ECU is right there. Maybe one of the internal relays are causing the noise?

ive not heard of a DC relay ever making a whining noise, AC relays will typically hum the nice 60hz tune when their coils are getting ready to give up the ghost.

Could be the Toyota recirculation blend door actuator (not the blower).

It is a small part with plastic gears that are constantly under pressure, so the teeth eventually break off. Usually begins as a clicking noise, but with enough teeth broken, the motor can run constantly and wear out with a squeal.

I'm now assuming I misinterpreted your first statement, and what you meant is that there are no electronics in the cab (speakers exempt) that will produce a sound within the human hearing spectrum... Well I don't know what else it could be, it sounds exactly like a 7khz wave played through my tweeter but there's no noise coming from any speaker, its coming from under passenger dash, and I unplugged the ADA and didn't fix so its not the actuator. :frusty:
