What are your thoughts on the current Pentastar motor?

I was cross shopping the Dodge Ram 1500 Warlock, when looking at a V6 Tacoma 4x4 SR AC. Some of the 3.6s are compraable in price.

I would prefer the 5.7 in a 1/2 ton pick up, but that brings the price up. I'm looking for the most truck money can buy. Which cancels out the Gladiator for this comparison.

The new Ram 1500s are also on the pricier side, and the old Ram has less features which I like.

Did they ever fix the burnt valve issue or was that only a limited time feature?

    Ford Ranger.

My brother has a 2020 Ranger and my wife and I have a 2020 Explorer with the same engine and 10 speed transmission. The Ranger is rated to tow 7500 lbs vs 6500 for Tacoma. Real world payload for a 4X4 crew cab Ranger is 1500+ lbs compared to 1000-1200 for Tacoma.

The little 2.3 turbo engine will run and it has low end torque for pulling. I'm gonn'a get a speeding ticket with this thing. When merging onto an interstate I can go from 40-80 mph in just a few seconds. I haven't asked my brother about fuel mileage, but my Explorer is 27-28 hwy if driven at 70.

I have loved my 2007 Tacoma and plan to give it to one of my grandkids in a few years. But If buying a new small truck today the new Ranger would be in line ahead of Tacoma.

    All of them.
I absolutely loved mine. Probably would have kept it if it wasn't a single cab. Put 100k on it and used it as a light full size should be used. Never had any issues with power. Had a 2019 V6 Ram 4 door as a work shuttle. Drove it a few times. It felt faster than my 2018 Tacoma at the time. Shifted better too.

Traded my 16 in. Loved that truck. But the dealer offered me more than I paid for it 1.5 years later. Now saying that I do love my Tacoma and have zero regrets switching from my Ram. DB96201E-D58A-4E2F-933D-B4B8E6B4EDB6.jpg

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
my experience with the 3.6 has been theyre trash... but then again, the shit i deal with are trade ins.

we've had 3-4 of them traded in with misfires. each one has been low compression on a cylinder or 2 at under 100k miles..

Thank you! Another reason I got it, I like the color. My wife on the other hand thinks it is too bright. Good thing it’s mine not hers. Lol

Do you have a double cab or access cab? Yesterday I saw a VDB Pro and it looked really good. Then I saw a VDB SR5 and didn't really like it. Although I have seen VDB SR5s that look good.

Supposedly fixed in the 3rd year of production. The 3.6 is supposed to be decent going into a decade of production, but I personally wouldn’t buy an NA full size V6.
