I hear you on the not thrilled for this year. I have 10 new student workers, freshman through PhD level, and between training and basically 2 freshman classes (we have hundreds of students who never came to campus last year) and the mandate of masks again for the start of the year to police in the shops, I’m a bit meh on this year starting. Plus I spent all summer getting the buildings (5) set back up for classes and now we have professors showing up on campus after 18 months away asking for the moon before classes start in 2 weeks. (No I can’t build you new office storage in a week…. And no, I can’t get you a new work truck before September… I’m more burned out by extra requests and everyone else dragging their feet. All summer working overtime and never did get to ride some where nice.

I do have a fall set with seats to every home game for a college team this fall for football though, and damn good seats. So I will get hours of good riding in as it gets colder. Looking forward to that.

The two freshman classes thing is real, I keep having to explain that to people. We're doing so much emphasis on sophomore programming this year its unreal. It'll be a weird fall for sure.

I have a helmet with fidlock and while it's convenient AF I just don't trust it for some reason. That was oddly reassuring that it would still hold up decently, though.

Only got to cruise a small part of the Blue Ridge parkway but I now have a route that I am anxious to throw on the leathers and try out next time.

    None... yet.
That looks freaking amazing! What is the speed limit on there? I have Skyline Drive near me but the 35 limit is maddening. I have to go when there is very little traffic or else it's just an exercise in frustration...

35-45 but it’s a well known place to ride fast. From the article...
“It begins right at the Inn as NC 226A descends from 3475 feet elevation at Little Switzerland to 1390 at US 221. These 11 miles are packed with great twisties. The first 5 miles are the steepest and tightest. Make sure you have good brakes and use your gearing on this downhill ride. There are no guard rails and the drop-offs are steep and deep with only the forest to stop you in many places. This is no place to ride fast or alone.”

Headed back to the States next week so I called about the wife’s Grom.

Was supposed to be in June, then July, then August. New date is September 29 haha so yeah, she won’t be riding until next year pretty much as that’s the start of Winter for us. These shortages need to end!

That said, anyone recommend a good trickle charger for the two bikes for the Winter. The Chief had a port to plug in, not sure the name of the plug adapter but I assume it’ll be on most any decent trickle charger.

Haven’t dealt with winter in many a year!

Hard to go wrong with a noco genius 1. It'll do standard, agm, lithium, or 6v batteries and is pretty intelligent overall. Only downside is they have their proprietary x-connect or something connector, but theres a <$10 adapter to get you to standard SAE plug. You can also unscrew the clamp terminals on the included pig tail and get a standard ring terminal off of it with the x-connect end if you want to install that as the pigtail if the bikes don't have SAE already.

They also make a 2amp x 2 bay charger if you're trying to get real fancy.

even though I do like to work on my own vehicles, I recruited the help of our fellow @Speed Freek who isn't that far away from me to help install some parts. Ended up being a bit more work than I expected and not quite plug and play, but he was a great sport about it and made it all work. New headlight, turn signal, rear fender eliminator, and levers. Couldn't be happier with how it looks now! Excuse my terrible photography

Do you not have a brake light or turn signals on the rear or are they just too well hidden for this retard?

Racked up close to 100 miles on Sunday. ROX 2" bar risers worked great. Time to get those new pillow top grips on and see about one of those Seat Concepts replacements for these longer rides.

Also added a little love to the bike

    Need another Dual Sport asap.

By adding a little love I was zoomed in looking for some damage for a good minute before I saw the sticker haha.

Got the new headlight in (should’ve got a picture of that…). Liking the direction the build has gone at this point. I need to get shorter brake lines and clutch cable to tidy things up a bit and then I’ll leave ‘er be, for awhile at least.
