I've heard its made by borla and stamped trd, it does sounds nice though. Not super aggressive but you know its there.

it's one of the best sounding exhausts and many around here agree. it's also one of the most restrictive, and i found its performance awful in terms of efficiency and throttle response after developing a custom exhaust in stages. if sound is the focus, it's a great choice. getting good performance and good sound is a different kind of challenge on this motor to be sure.

So like it might make the already semi weak performance even worse? I'm more interested in better performance or fuel economy than sound.

I installed mine shortly after purchase. No performance gains, sounds nice for a V6 though. The 304 stainless and sound was what I was after.

I had the trd exhaust on for about 5k miles and can say that the sound is awesome. Gives a nice deep tone without the drone. The shift points I guess felt a little better, but honestly now that I’m back to stock I wonder if the truck is faster. That’s how negligible the power gains were

You will need to get a CAI, an intake spacer, Pedal Commander, OV tune, and switch to 91 octane but your gains and sound should be sick. 425 BHP rear wheels

Nice thank you for the suggestion! This will definitely void the warranty right lol?

Something like this have a decent improvement? Since I'll need something I can uninstall easily for CA smog checks :/

Yes. I was just goofing around. We do that sometimes, especially on Fridays

Truly, any cat back exhaust will give you a different exhaust tone but not much more. There may be minimal gain to be had if you go with the cat back, intake and spacer. By the time it translates to rear wheels it will be minimal. You will perceive it as more due to the sounds but nothing else.

That said, I put an MBPR cat back and S&B CAI on my truck. It is loud as shit and has a drone. But I like it. I have 33’s so I don’t know, about performance gains. Like the look of the exhaust and under the hood.

I would go exhaust to start. CAI will do more to make louder than anything else. If you want performance, best is the exhaust, CAI, and some sort of tune.

If you want to be that guy who thinks he’s cool intake and run a straight pipe. Or keep the factory intake because it’s already cold air and to give you a little TRD flair add the cat back exhaust like me, lol. Nice tone without the nasty rasp. No noticeable improvements over stock.

    Sounds nice. Pretty.

Expensive when you consider it's just a form of a sewer line.

Never forget. Nothing labled TRD on any Tacoma was actually developed or used in their racing program. Pure fluff to drain your wallet.
