Hey there, I had quick question. The heated seats I will be using are 5.03 amperage max. I was going to use a 10amp max fuse tap. Now, they gave me a power wire and a ground wire. I have an optional in line 7.5amp fuse and was wondering do I need that if I’m using a fuse tap?

Next, I wanted to tap into an existing fuse that is 7.5 amps and then the new fuse would be 7.5 amps, would that be fine, to use the same amperage fuse in both slots of the fuse tap? If not would you recommend the original 7.5amps in the bottom slot and then 5 amps in the top slot, i don’t know if that would work as the seats would pull slightly over 5amps. Thank you so much

The slot you tap for the fuse is rated for higher than the fuse that's installed, generally they would all be rated for the theoretical maximum fuse size you could install (likely 30 amp). You need to look at the upstream power from the 7.5 amp fuse and see the rating on that to ensure that adding 5 more amps to that circuit will not overdraw the rating on the upstream fuse to ensure proper fuse coordination. If you know the seats draw 5 amps, I would recommend the 7.5 amp fuse which would have been the same rating as the manufacture appears to also recommend since that is what they supplied.

What 7.5 amp fuse in the truck did you want to use to tap the seats into?

If the 2021 is anything like the previous years of 3rd gen, there is already a fuse spot for the factory seat heaters (when equipped)
Look at your fuse box cover and see if that spot exists on your truck (or post a picture so we can see it)

If you have it, that would be the ideal location for your aftermarket seat heater fuse tap

Can anyone give me recommendation for where to buy aftermarket seat heating pads for 2021 Tacoma with rectangular switches that fit panel? Thanks
