Well we are off this early morning. Sweating bullets yesterday. Wife received her Covid 19 Molecular test back at 2:30. I still did not have mine when I went off to sleep at 9:00 last night. The test results were in the inbox this morning. Both tested negative for Covid 19. Thank you CVS Pharmacy and Quest Diagnostics. I will try and post during the vacation with pictures and such.

Miss Susan, you are not allowed to leave. Like Army Artillerymen, you add dignity to what otherwise would be a vulgar brawl.

Thunderstorms all around us yesterday evening so we cancelled the planned balloon flight. We only had a few short bursts of rain overnight here, though. Thought we might try to fly tonight but the ambient air temps are projected to be somewhere between 104 and 115F so we scrubbed the plans.

My truck is sitting at the dealership - his first overnight away from home. They grow up way too quickly. Dropped it off yesterday at noon to have them get rid of a consistent last second brake squeal in my right front that happens just as you stop. Light but totally annoying if you are in stop and go traffic. We'll see what they come up with.

I'm being interviewed/filmed here at home this morning by a crew from WVIA, our local PBS station, about my experiences in the Pentagon on 9/11. Amazing to believe it's been 20 years. Every day since then has been a bonus day with Lynn.

Don't worry, Sue's not leaving us, she's kind of like a mother hen to us and the porches master at arms who keeps us in line. Who else could us and get away with it when we get out of line!

There are a few variations of an arrow spinner Mike. If I wouldn't have got carried away , I could just have glued 4 marbles on a board instead of using the bearings, also could also use finishing nails in an X, or just V's cut into something, also just roll the arrow over a flat surface like you mentioned.
The piece that stands up is actually an L that fits into the base, I can reverse it to _l or remove it completely, it is made for 18 or 20" crossbow arrows, and when removed it can be used for longer arrows, there's more to it than meets the eye!

 

Who here is just aching to get out and travel again? I miss camping in Baja with my Tacoma!

 

Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Well, yesterday didn't go as planned, but it went to plan in the long run. I wasn't really planning on getting back home early enough to start cutting stones, and I didn't. Stopped at Discount Tire to fix an errant TPMS, and they got it in, but they forgot to call me when it was finished - spent about a half hour semi-dozing in the chair before I noticed where the truck was - but it got done. SM Lowe's DIDN'T HAVE your basic red paver, not a one. So had to go to Kyle Lowe's (for all 3!). There was an overturned demolition dump truck blocking the frontage road, so everyone was fighting over the only entrance. that took a while. So, anyway, after the Walmart stop, that was enough wasted time to not even get some putz in. To the pavers!

My wife was comfortable and sleeping. Ostomy bag held during the night, TPN pump running and not beeping (she rolls over pinching the line, setting off an obnoxious alarm). So I actually got some decent (for me) sleep; took the dog for a nice walk and enjoying my morning coffee.

Pool refinishing - we were going to have the pool redone. Pool guys are great but explained all the contractors are slammed and charging 50% surcharges to do shortage/demands of new pools (people didn't travel, installed a pool). So they recommended just waiting a year for the pool resurface. Pool is functional, beam is good, but the old saying about stitch in time applies to pool maintenance, too.

Industrial Lawn Mowers -- Any recommendations? Graverly is what the commercial folks sell. I bought my Shindowee weed eater from them almost 30 years ago, so typically anything they stock is based on commercial use. I like their tip "only get enough gas to use within one month". I've patched up my Sears mower for 20 years, but when it breaks down I use the push mower for our 1.5 acres, which takes about six hours. Time for a new mower!

 

Glad to hear that Tom - hope she is doing better and happier at home!
Wife seems to want our fiberglass refinished in the pool - I think that can wait a while longer. It's only 35+ years old!

 

good news concerning the wife. We have an ExMark Commercial 30 and. JD Z345R. Both have performed well.

 

Check into the Scags and the Kubotas -- both a little higher but worth the extra. I run a Scag LibertyZ The scags when used for residential, come with a 5 yr warranty. My SIL raves about his Kubota diesel they use for their apartment properties, and he has a smaller 48 gas for their lake property. He knows the mechanical as he is an aircraft mechanic (FAA A&P), also a jet (multi engine) pilot . My little Scag is a 36 in ("baby-scag) -probably a bit of over-kill for my yard, but it is great.

Forgot to mention, yesterday I think I killed a large assassin bug that was on the door jam of the garage, if it wasn't one it sure as heck looked like one.
Need to do a little homework on them, don't know if they are beneficial or should be squished!

 

Big and small, I cuts them all!

 

And the last piece goes in! So, I'm taking a break in the pool with a little Blonde. Then I clean up, OK?

 

All insects and spiders are useful. It just depends on whether that usefulness out weighs the problems and they cause.

Consider how fewer people would be on the planet if we didn’t control mosquitoes

And personally, I kill ever Blackwidow I find. Yes, I know they eat other insects. But, have you ever been bitten by one? I have. ALL BLACKWIDOWS MUST DIE!!!

 

And I'm done! Grills back home. And I have hydrated past the water stage!

No rain for us yesterday - we hit 94 with high humidity....my favorite weather. Just had a rain shower blast through a few minutes ago. High of 91 predicted for today.

Truck spent another night in the dealership - turns out the brake squeak is in the rear. After consulting with their next level Toyota Techs they are replacing the drums - had to order for overnight so, hopefully, it will be back today.

I miss my truck.

We've been making tough decisions daily regarding mom. She is refusing to eat, refusing to take meds orally. She doesn't want to go back to her apartment. "I want to go home." So we are making choices to help her get there. Meeting with palliative care folks today. I wish she wasn't in the hospital but I don't know what we can do about it now.
