The 700lb spring might be a bit on the heavy side for your build at the moment. Out of the 650lb and 700lb spring, the 650lb spring would be the better choice. Your hybrid bumper and winch are not that heavy in comparison to a full steel bumper, winch, dual battery setup, skids, etc etc. The 700lb spring would be a better option if you did have those other accessories on the truck.

2.5 ext travel coilover (883-02-025) is measuring a bit less than 20.5" from tophat to center of eyelet with the factory spring. Currently running the OE FOX coil and haven't adjusted the preload. The spring collar is threaded down about 2" from the top of the coilover.

I'm running full skids, bolt on sliders with fill plates, a light (70ish lb) front bumper, a winch, a rear HC bumper with a swingout, and 2 spares. 2nd battery is located in the bed and I have the stock size 27f up front.

Should I go with a taller spring and/or stiffer spring or just crank the preload until I get to 21" shock length?

Ok, I screwed up my math/info a bit, sorry about that. I also deleted the post above so there is no wrong info is not on this thread.

I'll need to know spring length at FULL DROOP (not ride height). That number subtracted from 13" will give you your preload amount. If its around 2" you should be ok, if its a little more you may want to consider a 14" x 600lb

I'm at 11.25" on the drivers side coil at full droop. Sounds like I'm in the ballpark for where it should be, even with the extra weight.

Awesome, that was quick. Yes you should be good on spring rate and can adjust the preload nut to get you to that 21" mark.

My what TW does to me.

Here I am, all set on a Bilstein 6112/5160 setup a week or two ago. That little voice in the back of my head said “price it out, you’re getting close to pulling this trigger.”

One thing leads to another…. I think I’m committing to the Fox level 2. I don’t want to end up a year down the road wishing I had done it originally. Plus thanks to the market it’s almost the same price (am I correct?) as a bulletin setup provided I go with an AAL other than Dakar’s.

If you are smart about it and want to do it once and do it right. Go thru @AccuTune Offroad. They will set u up and tune your shocks for you specific truck weight and driving style. Plus 1 free re tune if not happy.

I may have to do this. Problem with that is I plan to add weight to the back but not for a year or two. Suppose I could always re tune once I add the camper.

It’s back to the drawing board for me… I’m going to have to re-research this topic now. Getting into lands I don’t understand - don’t even know where to start with 6-10” travel. I guess this is technically Mid-Travel?

Honestly I'd call accutune and talk it over. Tell them current plans and long term and they will help you. I know I pushing then but it's just cuz I've dealt with them a few times and it's always awesome. They will spend time with you on the phone and let you know the best options.

I appreciate it, I will likely drop them a call tomorrow. A bit shocked (no pun intended) to see the bilstein's have climbed to such prices. Part of me had hoped these were temporary increases thanks to the pandemic but it seems $700+ for 6112s are the norm now. At this rate I have no excuse to at least take a second look at a FOX setup. If I'm gonna throw $2k at the truck I can't really turn my nose at a couple extra hundred to make sure I get a setup I am happy with on and off road.

I made the mistake of taking small steps with "good enough for now" setups. 5100s twice, icon non resi then I still wasn't happy so had accutune set me up with some tuned 2.5s and I've been unbelievable happy since. Wish I just bit the bullet the first time and saved myself money and time.

It doesn't even make financial sense to go Bilstein at these prices.

Depending on weight added, a revalve may not be necessary. However, we always offer a free revalve for as long as you own the shocks originally purchased from us... even 2 years later when you add a bunch of weight

    Perfect!

Are the compression adjusters (From stage 2A) something I could add to a Stage 2 setup later on if I needed?
