Century was no help on the phone today. I don't have the original gas shocks for the rear glass. I'm trying to find out what size/weight shock I need, does anyone with this cap know?

You didn't look at the link did you?
"...Force is 24 Lbs Per Prop and Force Per Set is 48 Lbs, Camper Rear Window..." Look at most of the similar items/frequently bought together, etc and you'll see that most of the struts sold for rear windows/bought by folks buying parts are in the 24# range.

Without knowing which rear window you have there's really no way for any of us to know exactly what you need- if you look at a sampling of caps you'll find several different styles (frame/frameless/etc.). IIRC, Century is a subsidiary of Leer- don't quote me on that though. Since there are no Century dealers near you (assuming your location is correct), I'd try the nearest Leer dealer which is listed on Leer's website as:
    LEONARD - WILMINGTON
    ADDRESS
    5705 MARKET STREET
    WILMINGTON, NC 28405

That ought to at least get you in the ballpark; the closed length is more critical than the weight since the window needs to be able to close. You can get in the back and measure the distance between mounting points then hold the window at the open angle you prefer and use that as your extended length. You don't want it too strong though, especially if it's a frameless/all glass style.

Alternately you could try calling a place that specializes in parts and see what they say. I've added a link to one that i have saved and you'll notice most of their struts are around 24#s but they also sell models up into the 100# range- I imagine those are for specialty doors like the one piece ARE that replaces the tailgate as well or steel coontractors caps maybe. :notsure: Try to get whatever info you can on your cap before you call and you may have to send them a picture- I have no idea about Century but ARE, for example, has an ID plate riveted in the upper left side; the one I had on my 1st gen was cheap and just had a plate glued to the inside of the left hand side fiberglass with nothing but a model name on it.

Good luck, it shouldn't be too hard to get what you need.
