Any woodworkers?

I just hope that after I pass on, my wife doesn’t sell my tools or stereo for what I told her I paid for them!

 

Sad thing is all the shop programs Here are gone, and the kids really have no interest anymore it seems. I offered to mentor the young man next door to me for free and he said thank you sir but I have no interest.

 

The Woodshop in my old high school is used as a storage space now.

 

That sucks

 

My son took woods 1 and 2 but stopped because he didn't like the teacher.

Which sucks because woods 3 builds sheds and woods 4 builds a house.

 

I wish we would have had a "shop" class back in my HS (small private catholic school). Back in the 60's everyone was pushing Pre college prep courses. I went for 2 years -then got bored and joined the AF ahead of being drafted. Eventually got BA and MA , but was not ready for college at 18 -19. I could of learned some real practical woodworking skills if given the opportunity. Oh well -thats life and water under the bridge!

 

Anyone use a laser engraver to mark your projects? I had thought about getting an electric branding iron to put my name on the bottoms of my boxes and bowls. They run around $100. Someone on a Facebook woodturning page has a Laser Pecker engraver. They do MUCH more than a branding iron. Amazon has them for $250 right now.

Got a new to me toy. About $250 cheaper than a new one. This thing hasn’t been used much, looks new. Quite an upgrade from my little Porter Cable 16”.

 

I bought one of those used for about the same as yours, great saw! Congrats!

I made a router guide out of some scraps and plowed out the miter grooves in the outfeed table.

Grooves done, then I sanded the edges of the grooves.

Both tables are now installed and leveled.

I'm calling this project done, just need to wax the tops.

This is a big improvement to my new saw, similar to my old saw. I like the white tops as the reflect light nice. These will be multi use tables, I'll also use them for assembly and glue ups and for finishing. These large tables make it very safe for me to cut sheets of plywood and long boards by myself and accurately. I don't have to support the stock as it comes off the saw or worry about catching the boards.
I did this on the cheap and its all hardwood. The only things I purchased was the 3/4" plywood for the top, the formica and contact cement, the leveling feet, and some miscellaneous hardware. All the rest of the lumber came from pallets.
