Rear Seat Delete Decks

Thanks for this idea, I love it! Sorry to hijack the thread, but seeing all the dog pics here made me think this would be something others here have thought of. I'll probably grab some climbing rope and carabiners and do something like this.

As this thread inspired me, with help from RippNSh!t, I present to you my rear seat delete for my 21' DCSB. Here are the photos of the build process and what I did to my cab. Imgur: The magic of the Internet

 

Rear deck install in-progress. Used king starboard, as per another in this thread. Very great material.

Last pic shows how I access empty space underneath. I can fit a large recovery/tow strap, large socket and wrench set, air pump gear, and a go-bag. Basically, stranded equipment. Access easily by moving the front seats forward.

How often do you guys use the tie down systems you’ve installed? Thinking through options for myself.

 

Rarely use the tie downs but they are nice to have. If you don’t need a perfectly flat surface, L-track is a great option. Otherwise threaded t-nuts from underneath is what goose gear uses and will work for most stuff

 

Be patient, someone will jump on them.

 

This is what I ended up doing. Used 3/8 oak plywood and 1 inch oak trim to create a two part deck, which I attached to the stock seam bottom hinges with through bolts. Since it’s in two pieces, each side can be hinged up independently to access the storage below. The drivers side section is longer so the fridge fits on that side long ways.

Thanks! It's definitely the simple, "I'm no woodworker", solution but I think it came out okay.

Hey folks- got tired of the puppers always falling off the jump seats so we built a Doggie Deck for the '16 Access Cab I had at the time.

Used the mounting points for the cupholder to anchor it in place. 3/4 birch ply, some cheap carpet and a couple pieces of angle were all we needed. Solid as a rock, and could still get to the seatbelts in a pinch.

Definitely had to install sound mat to help with the noise. New double cab with real seats is so much quieter!

Still have the deck here in the Denver area if anyone is interested.

 

Great thread and a lot of quality stuff in here. Prepping for a Grand Canyon trip in October, and will be building a removeable one. Considering making it a bit higher and removing the under bin storage to create room for the off road jack and a little more storage. Really like the under deck PVC and the slide out tool storage. Great stuff guys. Thanks for the inspiration.

 

Finished my simple 60% delete today. Just some 3/4 maple ply, 1x3’s and a little hardware. Might throw some carpet on it one of these days.

 

90% there. Waiting on folding "D" rings to use as cargo anchors. Stair paint with traction sand for the surface. 3/8's plywood ($36), a piece of particle board (left overs), glue, and about 10 screws. I used cabinet push magnets for the hatches. I may have to revisit that as they are super sensitive. All in for just about $100.

 

I am trying to dial in measurements for a seat delete design for a Gen 3 Access Cab. I have a preliminary design but would like the opportunity to test fit it, to see if any adjustments are needed.

My friend and I have a wood shop in Los Angeles in the vernon/ boyle heights area.

I am looking for someone with a gen 3 access cab that wouldn't mind meeting me at the shop, or even somewhere else in the LA area, for us to test fit our design.

Will need to remove the back seats, which takes about 10 minutes and then slide this seat delete in and see how it fits, take some measurements for changes, and then reinstall your rear seats.

Willing to give a case of beer of your choice for your trouble.

Hopefully there's someone out there with an access cab that wouldn't mind lending a hand.

Found this thread 30 minutes ago and....
