Not SAE, but I thought this was interesting and don’t have a better place to post it.

The Shelby Raptor has a hydraulic tilt adjustment on the overhead light bar controlled by an in-cab switch.

So you can tilt the beam up for high speed driving?

Race trucks have these too, though they're usually done with a manual pushrod through a hole cut in the roof. Here's Jessi Combs' truck, kinda hard to see in the picture but it's there.

My favorite light bar, but definitely not subtle. The Gravity optics will provide the highest output intensity at the lowest power draw while having the least hood glare. You can see a single KC Pro6 tested in the original post of this thread. As to SAE, the Pro 6 Driving light is supposed to be SAE compliant, when you use only 2 mounted at or below the headlight height. Lights above the headlights such as ditch lights or over head light bars are not legal for on-road use regardless of the pattern, neither is running more than one set of aux lights. I say the Pro6 is supposed to be compliant because the units I tested were actually to high in output intensity to be SAE compliant, but according to KC that was an earlier version of the lamp and they have redone the Driving optic to meet compliance, though I have not verified that claim.

I knew it wasn't SAE legal, a slight attempt at humor:) And unlike telling my wife I have no idea why the bumper fell off with the fogs I'm pretty sure I can't fabricate a believable story to cover those.

He's 18 and his mouth has him on borrowed time.

That's... actually kind of dissapointing to hear.

I've seen it as well. They will offer the driving pattern like the SS3s but the output intensity will be far too high to be SAE compliant. I can't wait to try them out!

Benefits of an Idaho registration... there doesn't appear to be any sort of reference to any sort of standard for auxiliary lights. Just a maximum of two "spotlights." So I'm going to save up my pennies.

I wonder if DD will offer this new "wide" pattern from the ssc1 in the ss3 eventually. Seems like the perfect trail optic in yellow. Not to get too off topic...

If they go 3x3 arrangement and keep the optics the same size (would make sense, they already have a very good idea of how that would translate over in terms of performance if drive level/LED remains the same) then probably just about 5"×5".

If optic size and LED power levels remain the same, a 3x3 arrangement would net north of 120k cd with the driving optic and sport power level, close to 150k cd with the Pro. Not bad at all in that size. Plus the ability to end up with a nice 4000k tint would make it an all around winner if its around the current Max pod price for the larger sport pod.

But would definitely be an offroad light, excepting states that don't have a clear auxiliary lighting standard.

The pod with a spot optic would be ridiculous in either power level. Especially with the 4000k tint.

I think that would be a really good size for a high beam supplemental driving light. Especially so if they can be had with the 4K chip.

Don't get me wrong, I love my pro 4K driving pattern ss3s. But at times I they look a little small on there.

    4 cummins trucks!
They’ll likely be the same 20w chips as the max which are only offered in 6k right?

As far as size the BD XL line is about a 4.5” square and the XL80s use 20w chips so if DD goes the 20w chips x4 they’d probably be close to the same size?

Pure speculation on my part, really curious to see how they stack up against the XL80 in size and output, I have a pair in the ditch light location pointing straight forward and they’re awesomely bright.
