I just can't get rid of the stink coming from my truck's evaporator. I've tried a bunch of different evap cleaners and it comes back within weeks.

I'm looking for a shop that specializes in cleaning auto HVAC systems. Can anyone recommend one?

Run an ozone generator overnight and it will likely kill everything permanently.

I was looking into that but start reading mixed about how ozone can damage/degrade interior and rubber parts. No idea if this is true though. I'll do some more reading.

I saw the technique used for cleaning and restoring classic cars but I’m sure it is possible it could cause damage. Can’t hurt to research it more.
You can also try Prokure G. I’ve used it several times to sterilize rooms and homes. Probably be okay in a vehicle as well.

How did you clean the evaporator? I think that the approach shown on the numerous Youtube videos (spraying it up the drain tube) is almost worthless. I had poor AC performance with my 25 year-old Tacoma. I removed the resistor from the evaporator box and found the box stuffed with 25 years of mesquite tree leaves and pine needles. After vacuuming it all out, I applied the AC cleaner directly to the evaporator using the box end of a small wrench to direct the tube on from the spray can. I repeated the process until the can was empty and clean fluid was coming out of the drain tube. Now, my AC is fresh and cold.

This sounds like it would work really well.
