Hey everyone I have an offer to buy a 1987 Hilux. It is all stock and has the factory turbo in it still. It is manual, 4x4, and has 178,000 miles on it. The owner says they are mostly freeway miles and that the 4x4 was rarely used. The pickup is the light tan/sand color, which my friend told me is very sought after. I am planning on seeing it in person, but am trying to gauge what price I should be trying to buy it for, what price I could potentially sell it for if I restore it or just fix it up a bit. Also any problems that I should be aware of looking for when I go and view it. The seller says it runs perfectly fine and has no problems at all. Let me know what you guys think, thanks!

2.4 diesel? RHD Hilux's don't have a crazy following like land cruiser or Tacoma, so don't expect a huge demand regardless of what shape it's in.

Sounds like it is the 22ret gasoline engine? If so it is rare. Worth at least $10k Rust-free and $20k restored. In pristine shape much more.

Side note: RHD diesel Hilux pickups have a crazy following. Everyone wanted the whistlin diesel hilux that was destroyed. Any JDM importer will tell you it is their most requested vehicle and one of the most difficult to find. LHD will carry a significant premium but they are rarer and usually in much worse conditions.
