True. Perhaps I'm overthinking it. I was more so thinking about a minor accident. It just seemed like there isn't much material before you are into the body of the vehicle. But it does look sexy.

Anyone have any tips for a stuck CV axle. I've tried pry bars (both prying and hitting), but can't seem to get enough bite. Tried a slide hammer too but it just won't budge.

Going to try and rotate the axle a bit today in hopes of re-aligning the c-clip. Might look into the cable/hammer trick if that doesn't work. Any one have any other tips?

I have the C4RS cv puller but haven’t used it yet. Others swear by them.

I've given it some gusto for sure. So much so that it's starting to gouge the tulip from the slide hammer and slamming pry bar methods.

Hoping that rotating the axle works this afternoon. If not, I'm going to look into a cable method similar to the C4RS idea.

Rotating the axle usually does the trick. I have to replace one of mine as well.

Had to do mine twice recently to fix an axle seal. Just be patient rotate it a little, give it a try then rotate it a little and give it a try. might have to go around a few times before you find that magic spot but it'll pop out eventually.

Thanks guys. I'll keep at it.

Worst case scenario I figure I'll just cut the boot and remove the tripod joint from the tulip. I figure that'll help take the weight off and give me a better spot to get 3 jaws on for the slide hammer.

At this point I'm thinking I want to throw this aftermarket piece of shit in the trash and put an OEM one in anyway...

Took a few days, but prying/beating the CV axle wasn't working. Took some extra persuasion from a slide hammer and CV removal tool, but I finally got the fucker out...

Well go to drive to work this morning and the GX won't start! :annoyed: Luckily I've got the SilverRAYdo.
You turn the key and it just keeps spinning over and over. So it's not a dead battery. But there's a few things I need to check after talking with our head technician. Happy monday.

Got home last night to test some things. One being grabbing the second key in case my main key was dead (not the battery in the key but the key itself). Started right up with the second key. Then started up again with my main key. Both started the GX. It also started just fine with my main key this morning. Hooked up Techstream this morning and no codes except for the missing air suspension. So who knows. It did randomly stumble before starting when I first got it, but not every time. But lately it's been starting without hesitation. My brain is leaning towards fuel pump, but once again, who knows.

Just to get everybody up to speed. The tacoma got sold last friday and i picked up @Archangel 's GX. After looking at headlight replacements i didnt feel like dropping the coin, so i did a quick resto after work today.

Wet sanded with 600,1200 and 2000 grit. Then a 4 step polish followed by a glaze and a coat of wax. Once my new bottle of jet seal comes in ill strip the glaze and wax. Then give it a coat of sealant.
