I played the pretend super commuter game on Monday when I dropped my truck off at the body shop. Worked from a cafe, had an interview, then rode the bus back to Denver and then rode my bike the rest of the way back home.
It wasn't bad, but I was able to take the FF bus.

That doesn't sound bad at all, apart from the situation that led you to doing it.

I've managed to keep live/work situations that allow me to walk, bike, or take transit instead of driving every day. I enjoy driving, but I don't like needing to drive, especially when rush hour congestion is a factor. Ancillary benefit: I've owned the same car for over 10 years and am only now approaching 100k miles on the odometer.

 

Yeah, I don't DD anything except my feet and bicycles. I usually average ~10k a year and that includes a few longer road trips around the western US.

Ended up replacing my 15 y.o. clothes washer and dryer. New pump in the washer did not fix the no-drain issue; everything pointed to the control board which is NLA and not in stock anywhere. With the dispenser leaking, one shock absorber broken, and the dryer was making a bad noise a couple months ago then simmered back down, I figured it was time to replace both.

Grabbed a new scratch-n-dent set sight unseen that was discounted $1300. Wasn't sure what to expect for that much of a discount. The delivery guys were beside themselves when they unwrapped the washer, which was the damaged one. They didn't know. The side was smashed in pretty good (2-3" at the worst spot) along with a dented section of the back corner. I assured them it was ok since there was a huge discount. I just needed it to work, which it does. They were relieved, as am I.

I can live with it.

 

anyone getting kicked out by their wife's boyfriend or sending a kid off to college? I have a bunch of dishes and cookware I'm thinking about parting with
