Hey Guys! Finally joined TW. I recently purchased a 1st Gen (2003) and having fun with it. Hoping to meet some local Tacoma owners! Anyone else out there with some great first gen tacos?

For the most part, they set up day trail runs, wheeling. There's even mod days if you need help with your truck build or help out with others and enjoy the company.

Thanks man! I just purchased this about 3 months ago. Finally found one with low miles and in good shape (next to impossible) after spending months of searching. I’ve been modding it since I got it..

@F1rstGenTaco Welcome! 1st gen owner here. Your truck is immaculate - respect mines a 99 bought in 2004 with 97k miles. I'm up to 318,270 miles and counting. It's solid as a rock. Just as proud of it now, as I was when i bought it.

 

Thanks bud.. I appreciate the welcome! Man, your truck looks amazing! I actually wanted black but I couldn’t find one in good condition. I might go black or silver if I ever need to re-paint. I hope my truck lasts as long as yours. I have 124K miles on mine (just a baby in Tacoma years..).. so I’m hoping it will last until at least 500K! These trucks are definitely solid.. I like them better than the new ones to be honest.

 

@F1rstGenTaco I removed the step bars. The drivers side bar was half full of water found some clear front bumper signal and parking lenses with amber bulbs I'm expecting in a couple of days. I also have an all black matte grille. Not sure about the bull bar; all black -or- black with silver skid plate? Other than having a lower ball joint installed and getting it aligned, no repairs are needed. I've gotten more than my moneys worth out of this truck, as have the vast majority of Tacoma owners you'll speak to and get to know.

@SecureIT2021 - Half full of water? Wow, good thing you removed it! Not sure where you’re from but in California I don’t have any extreme weather (thankfully) to worry about. I just found the clear side blinker lenses through Rock Auto online and I got some smoked tails from eBay. Excellent pricing and perfect fit! I personally like the all black bull bar or maybe the matte finish grille and matte finish bull bar. I think it looks good.. almost like it’s apart of your bumper. Then the chrome or silver accents on your truck stand out behind it. Just my two cents.. either way, I think it looks great! Yeah, I put about $2K of repairs so far.. just a complete tune up and timing belt replacement. I wish I knew how to do this stuff on my own.. would love to learn! Maybe through here I will. Mine came with a Magnaflow exhaust too.. the dealer didn’t even know it had it! So, it hums a bit, still trying to decide if I like it. I hope I get my money’s worth too man.. planning to keep this for a long time. These trucks are little classics now. The only way I’ll get something bigger is if I ever have kids..
