    Hello my name is Sean
I am new to site. Just purchased 2021 TRD off road Double cab 5 foot Model 7544E . I need some advice please. I have 5 questions.
    1. Which heated seats to buy since they wanted 5k for heated seats package. Should I switch to leather and heat or should I just have them put the heat element under the factory fabric seats?

    2. Which step up for drivers and pass side front doors ? I do not want rear door steps unless i have to.
    3. Which cover for bed New England snow /ice weather or should I not even bother with cover?
    4. I could not get the auto start to work until I downloaded the Toyota app and punched in a code now it works but the app wants to spy on me so and I do not want a free 3 month ATT account it seems like because I declined the insurance info and WIFI and tracking what a mess. All I want is the auto start. Sorry but i am confused on why I only get one year of auto start with the FOB or am I wrong ?? What should I do to keep auto start its says I only get one year??
    5. Dealer tried to sell me platinum warranty for 2800 dollars i refused. Should I consider a extended warranty ?? Are there problems with these new tacoma's?
Thank you for any advice in advance Sean

First of all call around. When I bought my 15 my Finance asshat lying bitch was like I'm hooking you up with a 7 year/1000,000 mile warranty for $1500.00. I bit and then people on here told me to call around for a better price. I did and then I called back the dealer (Boch Toyota) and told them to cancel my extended warranty as I found it at many dealers for like $900.00 they then refunded me the difference and set me a $550.00 check. I sold the 15' with 90,000 on it and never used it.

I am glad I said No to 2800 bucks now thanks After I leave dealerships I alway have to take a shower to wash off that con artist / robber feeling. Why do all dealer stink and try and screw people ? I know they make commission off the up sell these guys have a bucket of wash film stuff I felt like it was snake oil.

    Welcome.

On seats, check out the clazzio thread. I cheaped out on my set ($350) and self installed heater pads and kept costs super low. Love them. Also possible to do a custom design and spend more. Katzkin is another option but you remove the seat cloth for that and for a brand new truck that is less desirable.

I definitely would not pay for Toyota heaters (they aren’t especially good) or Toyota leather (ditto) unless they already were on the truck you wanted.

I bought the warranty when I purchased my 16 TRD OR DCLB back in 2016, think I paid $750 or $950 can’t recall. It’s pure profit for the dealer, I didn’t shop around, just sounded slightly interested and they kept dropping the price. I never buy these things but given it was the first year of a new gen, and less than $1k, thought it would be cheap insurance. Never used it.

Welcome to TW! In 2002 when I bought mine, "finance" VP kept lowering the warranty price from $1,000, 800, 700, I told them that's why I'm buying a Toyota! They came down to $500 (for 100,000 miles), and I accepted. I used it at 80,000 when my 3.4 V6 smoked a head gasket, so it did pay for itself. Handy, because I was able to replace the cam belt, water pump, and belts when it was apart. Best of luck!

I would never pay a dime for a warranty, simply based on the fact that if you ever go into the dealership with a problem, all they have to do to avoid fixing it under warranty is say "can't duplicate the problem". And then you'll take time out of your day to go to the dealership and show them firsthand the problem occurring, to which they will respond "seems normal to me". So at this point, you'll take it to your own mechanic to get a diagnostic to bring back to the dealership to have fixed, to which they will reply "we don't accept third party diagnostics". Next step, you'll call Toyota corporate customer service and open up a case that will drag on for over a year while they tell you that whatever the dealership says is what goes. You'll get so frustrated trying to get any shred of help that you will end up taking it beyond Toyota and make it a legal matter. On second thought, maybe you should take this route, you might end up further ahead than when you started (albeit w/ a ton of patience) ;)

Yes heated seats are only with a package of leather seats and moonroof high end tech package. All I wanted was heated seats no moonroof no tech stuff the salesman said I had to get the package lowest priced package with heated seats was 3.8k- 5k but remember right now no supply, the biggest Toyota dealer in my State had 1 tacoma and 6 tundras on the lot yesterday. I started going to the dealers two of them for the past 2 months and I gave up I was getting the oil changed in my RAv4 when I saw my TRD OFF RD 4X4 DCSB in the lot with no sticker the truck was sold had no sticker on the door window but the guy that put the down payment down on it could not get the loan. I asked the salesmen if I could buy it he said yes I gave him my license and said run my credit then I went and got my Chevy trade in and came back bought the truck. Salesmen said all Limiteds have heated leather seats with moonroof too but TRD OFF ads its a package.

Weird! I'm pretty sure even the SR5s come heated seats here...

if that's all you want out of the package, I think you could just find a set from a parts truck or even off of ebay for significantly cheaper. I am not sure if the wiring harness will be there for you to plug into though.
