It literally doesn't matter if you have 5" of bump travel or 3". If you're using your bumps with SOA you're going negative. Period. Ride height plays no factor in this if you're using your truck.

That is the very reason the rear end of these trucks suck from day 1. Even factory packs are going negative at bump.

I've been using ballistic joints on my rear 4 link. I haven't had any issues with them. Still on the same joints for 2 years. The delrin serviceability is nice as it wears, the joint allows you to put a spanner wrench on it to tighten it down to pull the play out of it. once the delrin runs past its service life, just order new delrin. longer life and cheaper long-term maintenance than heims. That said, the downside is the delrin - If you plan on daily driving, you may experience faster wear and will be having to service the joints every 5K miles. The way they are mounted on my truck, I have to pull the link out, tighten, grease, then reinstall the link.

This is where i felt comfortable bumping mine. Don’t have any problems with leafs rotating. Custom Deaver pack with 2” hydros.

For the sake of the argument, not trying to make any generalization based on bump travel. The point being speculated was negative arch causing the bottom two leafs to rotate, which is a good supposition, considering at ride height, my leafs are basically flat and will go negative at full bump. Unless you have a leaf pack with a lot of arch and a stupid amount of ride height on rear of the 2nd/3rd gen Tacoma, the leafs are going to be flat. That’s the stock geometry and that’s been my experience with every leaf pack including factory. Another reason I wanna ditch SOA besides the fact that there’s 2.5” travel before I hit my bumpstops.

Yeah. SOA sucks in my honest opinion. All I know is my bottom leaf's will stay straight street driving, but as soon as I start romping on it, they rotate. Been like that since the beginning. I don't know the answer, but something about getting the rear end moving turns my bottom two every single time.

The beauty of the u402 packs and why they tend to ride a littler better than other expo packs is that it makes use of multiple thin, progressive leafs as opposed to a few thick ones. So I’m guessing it might have something to do with the thin leafs as well. I don’t have an exact measurement, but I also recall the pack measured pretty tall at the center pin because of those 11 leafs.

Only on one side or both? Do they turn the same way all the time?

My guess is because you threw a new number out there every time you posted. Guess you figured eventually you’ll throw the correct one out there???

That's because the point was it doesn't matter how much uptravel you have. Could be 5" could be 3" if you're bumping them out you're going negative. The only way you wont go negative is to basically limit it to 2" up. And who does that? All of these packs are so similar and basically everybody is running stock geometry with SOA.

It’s because you said if he has 4.5” of bump travel he is going way negative as opposed to if he only had 3”. I was never arguing that soa isn’t going negative. Only pointing out that you cannot generalize how much bump travel someone has relating to how negative of arch the leafs will go.

All this soa talk needs to move to mid travel anyways lol. Come back when your up travel is in double digits

Are you getting more than 10 uptravel and maintaining reasonable cv position at ride height?

10” up travel in the rear and about 9” up travel in the front. Uniballs are almost sitting centered and cv’s are almost perfectly straight. Everything is just barely “lifted” from if they were perfectly flat.
