Even if it goes over the hub before the wheel goes on?

    It is decorative.

Only time it could pose a problem is with incorrect install and not seated correctly. This would act to prevent the wheel from seating against the hub.
This would be obvious when tightening the lug nuts.

Your pic of the wheel with the broken studs is without the center cap....that is unlikely the cause.

Were they just the tuner (conical) type, or extended thread?

Ok....when did the last 2 break? At torque down or after driving?

I assume you confirmed the studs were fully and squarely seated.

Sounds like you have a hub issue if you replaced them with correct torque and they are breaking again. Either the wheel seat is warped, or something on the axle end is causing the wheel not to seat correctly.

Agreed. Something is causing the studs to be overstressed leading to early failure.

Suggest to replace the 2 broken studs, try running the spare wheel at that location.
If the studs break again, then the issue is likely in the hub or axle.
It the studs don't break, then the issue is in the wheel.

Over torque has been eliminated as a potential cause.

Or you could take the truck to a mechanic who specializes in suspension to explain the symptom and what was tried to isolate the problem.

    Wheels and tires so far
On my 2006 crew cab 4-wheel drive short bed, I have had 5 lug nuts break off on my right front wheel at almost 80 miles an hour, had four of them break off at about 70 miles an hour and had 3 break off today at 65 miles an hour on the front left wheel. When I pulled off the freeway, one of the Lugnuts was loose enough that I could take it off by hand but the stud was not broken off yet. After comparing the lug nut the tire shop provided with my wheels and tires, I've determined that I have only 3/16 to maybe one quarter of an inch penetration through my wheel on to the actual wheel stud. I had previously purchased aftermarket lug nuts just in case I lost some while I was driving and when I attempted to compare a to b the aftermarket auto parts store style would have easily had at least one half inch of penetration on to the stud. After almost crashing and possibly dying multiple times in this vehicle that I've Loved otherwise, I'm considering contacting an attorney for negligence and oversight because the same Tire company has serviced the wheels multiple times over the years and no one has ever said anything or paid any attention to this oversight of their materials sold to me and installed on my vehicle
