    Currently, I am running a cable from the cigarette outlet to my phone on my ram mount above the entertainment center. Trying I am thinking of wiring a permanent USB cable behind my entertainment center to both free up the outlet and have some better cable management. Is there a way to tap into the power behind the entertainment center using the extra cables that are sitting there already?

    So I will just need to find a USB receptacle, and splice it into a 5 V wire correct?

    No, that will be super tedious and difficult

    grab something like this and split it in to the two wires on the back of the cig lighter socket. Easy access, no risk of damaging data wires, and enough power available

    So here's what I just did under my dash, I tapped into the Cigarette Socket in the fuse box and added a 12volt socket. Then added this extender with 2 sockets and built in fuses. I run my Garmin GPS, front and rear Garmin Dash Cams, and my Rokform Wireless Charger on the Dash. Never an issue with any of it.

    Yes that will work just fine they do make USB jacks with pig tails that work with any 12 volt input so you don't have to take up a lighter socket
