I've seen Baja style tailgate replacements, but never what you're talking about, it's all the draw backs off a swing out with none of the benefits.

I understand and it's theoretically possible but why not put a connection rail side to side from the bed load rails and mount it to that.

Why on the tailgate, your tailgate becomes useless for anything other than the tire and blocks your rear view even more than and offset swing out.

Wilco makes this that I'm talking about:

    Tiregate-PR-Thumb-2-Resize-1.jpg

But it's angled back to allow visibility and still swings out of the way to access things in the bed.

If you hard mount your spare to your tailgate you'll have to unmount it anytime you want to put something across the tailgate as well as have trouble sliding things in and out.

    thanks for the response

Iv lookd at at least 2 doz types of spare tyre carriers

most have apparent disadvantages actually depending on lifestye & environs

a spare mounted to inside tailgate poses None for me .......would be rather handy

getting a spare from Under while in a ditch or exceptional terrain not so good

searching the archives much is attached that block sight & access

    not for my endeavors

the mount approx $75 simply ? is the tailgate + alum strong enuf

doent block license or camera or crowd the hitch

The tailgate is pretty flimsy at best, pull the skin and have a look at what's there, effectively stamped steel skeletal nothing. The skin is only held on by coarse screws and plastic clips, it's ment to take load in only one direction, on its face towards the ground when it's lowered, and even then they warp frequently.

If the weight of the tire is on the bed floor it might be okay around town but I wouldn't trust it to stay there in an accident or spirited off road driving.

Personally I don't think it's a safe idea, you're better off just getting a cable lock and securing it to the bed tiedown D ring, that's what I did until I got a swingout bumper. When I needed more bed space I would stand it up and ratchet strap it to the bed wall through the spoke so it couldn't be tossed out over a woop.

I think OP is either not a native speaker and using a translator or, just not a native speaker. Either way no sense in being mean.

Despite the unusual format, I understand perfectly what the OP is asking. But, the answer is that mounting the spare on the inside of the tailgate is not a good idea. (I just have mine flat in the bed. It's heavy enough so that it doesn't move around.)

minor, TRD skid plate, front recovery points, Regken mud flaps, rear diff breather, AC drain pipe extended. Upgraded sound with active sub woofer, tonneau cover, CB radio.
    Well, another option is:
Keep your original spare at proposed place under box.
Have a second spare in the box, flat on the floor, strapped to the d-rings, or behind the cabin, vertically, strapped to d-rings, or any other way.
(That's my way to go thru forest service roads on Vancouver Island). It's very budget friendly and effective way.
    Good luck!
