    A bunch of junk
    A few things

    Who has one?
    What Brand did you get?
Have you noticed any pros and cons?
Can one be used with the S and B air intake I have?

I find myself thinking of one more and more as I really like the look of them but don't quite want to appear as some fake poser, lol. I'd get some great use of it in the National forests that I travel around for fishing road side and such. The roads are always a dusty gravel that gets everywhere.

Any help and answers is appreciated! Also, the more photos the better!

I mean they do help. Alternatively you can clean your air filter more often which is easy. A lot of guys took out their inner fender liners and in this case it’s really a good idea to get a higher air intake because the hole is exposed to water more easily.

On the last trip I was on, on super super dusty FSRs, the guy with the snorkel plugged up his air filter twice, and my truck, with the intake behind the wheel well, had a clean air filter.

I think the snorkels with the forward-facing intake make the dust ingestion much worse. The dust is well above the windshield when you are following someone, and it just goes right into the snorkel. You can watch it happening in real time.

I get it for water crossings, but don’t buy the whole “desert air intake” nonsense unless the thing has a centrifugal filter at the inlet.

If you remove your fender liners, that’s a different story.

Yes to the above regarding dusts but regarding looks, it’s in the eye of the beholder. ( I love mine )

Perhaps if I am not behind anyone throwing the dust upward its ok
I guess, all in all, its not a total necessity for me but sure looks cool.

If you plan on traversing in deep water, I would also suggest raising the breather valve on your rear differential so water won’t get sucked in and blow out the seals

Yeah. I’m not knocking the aesthetics. As the lead truck in a convoy, you might see some advantage to the snorkel on dusty roads, but for everyone behind you, I think the forward-facing ARB style snorkels (that do not have the centrifugal top-cap) are making dust injestion a lot worse.

You would not believe the dust tapped out of my snorkel bros filters, and my filter looked totally clean.

Absolutely correct. I was following someone too close in FSR and it sucked all the dust lol which prompted me to upgrade the snorkel head with sy-klone pre filter. Now if I plan on doing FSR in a group, I install this otherwise it’s the normal arb snorkel head.

    I have one.
    Dobinsons.
Pros: haven't had to change my air filter since I got the centrifugal precleaner.
    Cons: installation was a pain.
Probably not compatible with your intake, but it would likely negate any negligible benefit you get from it if it was.

    I'd do it again.

So if you are getting one for looks then do whatever you want but you may end up as that fake poser. :)

That said, as others have mentioned they can help with dust but mostly when following others and real dust like legit sand, not just a gravel road.

They help when you have removed fender liners as the air box is exposed.

If you are really concerned about dust then a snorkel should have a pre-cleaner. They will catch most of the remaining dust and the precleaner usually needs emptied after some time.

I went with the Dobinson because it was on sale for $250. The ARB is the same exact thing but sells for $500. Installation kind of sucks so be prepared.

I will add that my snorkel loves to grab branches and tree limbs so be mindful of that.

One thing to mention, that may not be a phenomenon where you live, is that our gravel forest roads in Western Canada, end up being ground into rock-flour by the weight of the logging trucks, and lots of traffic when they are hauling outta the bush. When the roads finally dry out in high summer, the rock flour that kicks up is like talcum powder. Much finer than sand. More like bull-dust in Australia. So just because you are not in the desert, does not mean the dust is not fine.

I've seen the $180 ebay snorkels on IG and it looks good.. not sure how thick the plastic is compared the more expensive ones.

Dobinsons would be my choice. Basically an ARB Safari for a third of the price.

I installed an eBay version of an ARB on my Toyota. As far as I can tell quality was good minus the included hardware which I swapped out for 316 stainless. Very good molding, even had same embossed lettering part numbers as the ARB.

personally I say either 1) skip dobinsons and Ironman and whoever else is marking up ARB clones and just go straight for the cheap eBay ones and upgrade your hardware. 2) support ARB and pay the premium.

I’ve been looking into these as my wife mentioned a few times it looked like I could use one . Just curious though, you think strong double sided tape would work for the pillar bracket? I know that if I’m already drilling holes what’s a few more but, those are the only ones that bother me.
How was the rest of the install?

Mine has the double sided tape in 3 layers. Still good. Not comfortable drilling on the A pillar
