I am looking at purchasing a 2017 2.7 Access Cab Manual Transmission with 30,000 miles. What is the reliability of this model with engine/transmission configuration. Thanks for any advice. This would be my first Tacoma purchase if I go through.

If not abused by previous owner, I suspect you should get 170,000 more miles out of it.

    Good price?

The 2.7 is bulletproof based on every mechanic I’ve talked with. Add in that manual to combat the sluggish performance and you have probably the most reliable thing Toyota still makes.

My first Gen has a 2.7 and is at 187k miles with no engine issues. My dad was the original owner and passed it on to me when he got a new 2016. He liked the 2.7 engine so much he got it on the 2016. Dad passed away last year and I got the 2016. Not the fastest truck but very reliable.

    I'd trade my 3.5 Auto for a 2.7 manual.

I won't need to work on mine for at least a 125k miles, but I'm not looking forward to it. The 2.7 is a mechanics wet dream.

The price is 28,500. I’m told that’s fair market value. I wasn’t expecting much of a deal in this market

If it's a 4x4? that's what it cost new, but the market is tight.

Exactly what I paid for mine two months ago. 5MT 4x4 2.7L. Searched two years for one in mint condition. Bought it with 32,000 miles. Added Cooper rugged treks and oem off-road flares and wheels and the trd pro BHLM mod,A4F4A45B-7A04-47F3-8095-F029CCCD57AD.jpg pro taillights and called it a day. Love everything about it. Just don’t think it’s gonna drive like a sports car. It’s a snail. But now that I have it I will never sell it.

Thanks! Stock size off-road tires. 265/70/16
Wasn’t sure with the 2.7L how it would handle larger tires so I played it safe. I think it came out looking good. No regrets on sticking with a stock size.

It's a tried and true configuration, I'd trust it. I had a 2017 with the 4 banger and only traded because I wanted to feel the V6 and I wanted the towing package. My dad has a 2015 with the 4 banger and 5 speed auto and his is a work truck, no problems whatsoever so far. He loves to drive it too.

Last year for the 4 cylinder manual combination. I would like to have one for a daily.

With only reasonable care the truck will rust apart before it wears out. Cosmoline will help prevent the rust.

If you make maintenance and preservation a priority from day one 300,000 miles should be an easy goal.

Toyota's best combination for the Tacoma. I have a 2017 4x4 with the 2.7 and the 5 spd.

    35,000 so far. I paid 25,885.00, 4 years ago.

My dad was far over due for a new truck he was driving a 1992 Nissan Hardbody for years it was a manual transmission. Hawaii’s traffic sucks so much and my father was getting tired of driving manual in traffic so we sold it and picked up a 21 SR5 2.7 Tacoma since the market for them here in Hawaii was so bad. Someone ended up backing out of the deal and the dealership and we picked it up. So far I like the way it drives. Wish it was the V6 after test driving so much Tacoma’s with the V6 but the used market was crazy and these trucks were selling so much higher then a brand new truck. We paid 32k out the door with free oil changes and a 10 year extended warranty.

180k (mostly highway) miles on mine, 0 issues. Change fluids when needed, drive, repeat. Other than fluids, tires and windshields... nothing has worn out yet. I'm still on the factory brake pads, but they are definitely out of spec by now as they were just above the minimums at last inspection.

This is my 3rd 4 banger Toyota pickup, previous were 83 and 94. This one just as reliable as the other two were.

Should be a great reliable truck OP. I almost ordered one in '16 but held off too long. The only way it could get better would be if they still had offered it in a regular cab.
