    Yes that is correct but you left out the part where the dealership can certainly make a phone call to the regional Toyota rep and ask them to "override" the computer warranty denial. This is normal industry practice and happens all the time, usually by the selling dealership as they want to keep the customer happy and coming back.

    The dealership the OP went to made zero money off the sale of the truck, knows the OP is not coming back to their dealership to buy their next Toyota so they look at the situation as a regular retail service sale at full retail pricing.

    Hopefully most of you know by now dealerships make most of their profit from parts & service, then used car sales and finally the least amount of profit form new car sales.

    The OP's experience would have been different if he was able to return to the selling dealership.

    Best of luck to the OP trying to get money back from Corporate Toyota for a repair bill he agreed to and already paid. He lost all negotiating power when he agreed to the repair and paid the bill. Not saying he was wrong to agree and pay so that he could get home, just that he's no longer in a winning situation.

    some truth to what U say................................

    regional reps cant open the door to countless ‘ I deserve ‘ folks

    the everyday neglected maintence performed cant keep a dealer a float

    there is a neglect ......i dont know.....& of course the ‘ dumbazz ‘ penalty when the dealer has to bail any

    prev or potential customer out

    there is a much larger % margin in sales than repair altho for each sale

    can count on more than afew coming back

    Best of luck to you but have you asked why they haven't given you an answer yet? Its a real simple yes or no answer from Toyota so why the stall tactics from them?

    I suspect they have been hoping you'll just go away, like so many people end up doing, so who knows perhaps you'll be the last man standing and receive some sort of compensation.

    Lets hope its not a $500 certificate towards your next vehicle purchase.

    Toyota Customer Service is really something else. They didn't call yesterday when they said they would. I called Toyota this morning at 10:40 to talk to my "Brand Engagement Advocate" to see #1, why didn't he call yesterday and #2, what is outcome of my case? The receptionist couldn't get my Brand Engagement Advocate to come to the phone at that moment, but she said, "He said he will call you back". I quickly said, "He will call back today". She said, "Yes, today. We're open until 7:00 P.M. and he will call you back". It's now 8:55 P.M. and, of course, no call. Toyota's Customer Service has to be the industry's worst if this is how most customers are treated. Tomorrow will be another day.

    We had a resolution today. Toyota called this afternoon with an offer that was reasonable enough to my wife and me. No, we didn’t recover near the whole amount that this parts failure cost us, but then Toyota said none of this was covered under warranty and could have rightly given us nothing. It was a “one-time good will offer” that covered some of the parts and labor only. So we learned a lot from this experience and appreciated all the comments and guidance from those of you on TacomaWorld. Hopefully, this was a once-in-a-lifetime event that won’t happen to us again.
